I'm digging the heck out of the new Megadeth. I hope some folks will give it a chance here. Be warned, if you didn't like the early samples (Sleepwalker, Gears of War, etc.) than you probably won't like the rest. For my money though, those are all great songs, and the rest of the record works well with them. After having seen them the first time with Heaven and Hell recently, and digging this new record.....well, I'm paying more attention to Megadeth than I ever have before. Fun stuff!

Great record.

Probably picking it up tomorrow, I've only heard the three tracks that leaked early on and thought they were really good. I think Dave rediscovered the plot already with TSHF and if this indeed is a further improvement things are looking good for Megadeth.

Picking it up on my lunch break in a couple hours. Only heard one song off it so far, and that was "Gears of War" live back in October. Saw them open for Black Sabbath a couple weeks ago, but we were late and missed "Sleepwalker". Looking forward to hearing the rest..

Waiting to haul it in the next few days. But as PM74 pointed it out in the general package I like it (even with unnecessary the remake of 'A Tout Le Monde'). 'Sleepwalker' and 'Washington is Next' are great songs.

"Rediscovered the plot," is the perfect way to put it TSORL. It's very much an old school record. However, Andy Sneap (smart choice) has brought the production up to fantastic levels. Every song has a hook, or at least something that kind of makes you go, "Whoa, this one is cool too!!!!" Honestly, it might be one of the better Megadeth records ever. I've already spun it about 4 times, and each time I'm liking it more.

Awesome work Dave!!!!

I want to hear what more people think about this album before I get it. I post over on the Megadeth boards and there should be a lot of threads about UA in the next few days. I will probably pick it up sometime next week.

If you're that uncertain about their new CD then download the friggin album, give it a listen and then decide whether to delete it or buy the CD! I won't tell anybody... :p

Opinions are pointless as everybody perceives it differently... I really don't understand how can anyone declare this album average or bad, when it's the best thing they've done since RIP. But that's just me, get it? ;)

Dave and Megadeth have always been "hit and miss" with me over the years. I'm an album guy, and to my ears Megadeth never really put together the whole package. They've got a shitload of killer songs, but I always found their songwriting to be inconsistent from song to song, album to album.

That said, I do think this is a good album, much more inspired than recent efforts. But nothing here has the "magic", that "something special". Reflecting on the album as a whole, A Tout Le Monde is the best song on it, and it's a modern cover version of their old song from Youthansia.

Sixx, I will tell you this....

I like it a lot. It's a great album. BUT, I like TSHF better. I've been skipping past Tout le Monde as I was never crazy about Youthanasia, and the song just doesn't sound that different to me. Sleepwalker, and others, blow it away IMO.

No doubt in my mind that it's totally worth the $15...

This is worse than TSHF.

5/10

TSHF is still one of Megadeth's best efforts in my opinion

Beg to differ. Far more superior than TSHF, in the Megadeth whole discography scale this is 4/10, while TSHF is 2/10. In the post "Youthanasia" scale this is 8/10.

But like Sickboy said opinions are pointless, just download the damn album like I did and make your own opinion, mine is above.

NP: Allen/Lance - 'Victory'

This is about a 5...
Fuck the artwork is fucking horrible!
It really looks like a Roadrunner release circa
1984....
What a stinker, there are a couple of good songs
on there. I hope like hell they don't open for Heaven and Hell on the second leg of the U.S. tour, I don't want t hear anything off this album live...

There are a 3-4 good songs on there.
I don't know whether to praise Mustaine or
give him a swift kick in the nuts on this album.
He should have used these guys in the band as co-writers
he needed some help on most of these songs. His rants on some of these songs are just fucking stupid.
