Universal text files

What are the most universal (mac and pc) text file types? We didn't have enough money to print all the lyrics on our cd and wanted to make them available for download, so i'm wondering what would be the best file type to make them available in.

I prefer to use .rtf, it works with everything too

i would recommend pdf for a couple reasons:

1. you can lock down the content, whereas txt or rtf files are editable

2. you can create the lyric sheets in any program you want (add imagery, etc) and still save them to universally usable files through Adobe Reader

I´ve always been a .txt lover for some bizzare twisted reason, but .pdf does have more advantages for the purpose you want it

that pdf is pretty sick. I didn't even realize we could do it like a real cd insert, i was thinking only about the lyrics. I like this idea better though.

Again....I know what a fuggin PDF is. I look at them all day at work everyday. I meant examples of liner notes/lyrics pages that bands release in PDF format, but I'm sure you're just pokin the bear.
