Bass tracking is now complete and after losing my mind last night I'm back with some energy and I pieced together this little clip for you guys. I'm not sure why I'm posting something as raw as this but I guess I love ya'll too much not to! Eeew, enough of the gay stuff already, let's go :D

The only thing that's edited so far is the drumkit (which still has some editing left to be done on certain spots that I seem to have missed). Everything else is unedited and unmixed. I'm looking forward to the mix though. Major changes will be boosting mids on guitars a little, boosting the mids on the bass a little while at the same time taking better control over the rumbly low end, replacing the soundfont strings entirely with EWQL Free strings and so on so forth. I'm worried but at the same time I look forward to it.

So what's the next step? I'll be editing a little now and then, while also tracking vocals but it's kinda hard to find time with the singer right now. He won a big competition with his jazz band here in Sweden and they're soon going to play in the final competition against all other winners from provinces around Sweden. Anyway, this means I'll have time to cut together studio log videos and stuff too! Stay tuned for that :)

At 00:51 you can hear Behindert's AWESOME guitar lead that fits the part sooooooo nicely. Big thanks to André (Behindert) :) Going to be putting some sweet delay or reverb on that later to make it something "more".

whats your signal chain for the guitars on this? they're amazing sounding, and those drums sound great, real i'm assuming with what sounds like a triggered kick?

Sounds really awesome. You're an excellent drummer.. that bit from the first song we worked on sounds fucking killer now after the interlude bit, really good job on the drums.

Not a huge fan of the guitar tone :/ quite nasally and harsh, similar to some of Erik's tones. You have to release one of these songs to mix, it sounds incredibly well tracked!

I will probably bring this up in some videos I'll be making while mixing but anyway:

Yes, the drums are real, tracked with a 7 piece mic kit that costs under 200$. True story :) The snare has one sample (yes only one!) blended under the main snare for some sharper attack and a nice body. It is mixed in about 5-6 db lower than the main snare so you're mostly hearing my real snare (which I admit could have been tuned better/more fittingly). The kick has a sample with 3 variations blended in under the main kick but I think the blending ratio is stronger here. Let's say the samples are equal in volume to the main natural kick, that's how I remember it right now at least. Everything else in the kit is natural. As has been said though, this is still not mixed so I have some plans for the drums already. I think the toms have a bit too much in the presence area and the snare needs a bit more evened out dynamics (especially in the low mids). The kick will probably also be changed a little, mostly in the click I think.

Guitars (roughly described):

EQ: High pass to get rid of absurd low frequencies before hitting the amp sim

TSS: Adding a slight bit of drive and boosting with the tone knob, adjusting the output after how much distortion I need because I run the amp sim with full gain (there is a reason for this).

WarpVST: This is the amp sim and I run this on the Warp channel for some pretty unique distortion. I have the gain set at full because I have noticed it affects the distortion in a very good way. It becomes really juicy as compared to running with less gain (but boosting the volume before the amp sim to compensate). So to avoid over-gaining I pull the input down with TSS's level control. This is not the same thing as leaving TSS's level higher but pulling down Warp's gain, that's why I'm running it at max gain. Other controls are like Bass 7, Mids 10, Treble 5-6, Presence 4-5 etc. The most important thing is that I use 2 keFIR in a row because the first one "disables" Warp's built in cabs which you can't disable and the second one is (yeah it's getting old isn't it?) Ryan's s-preshigh impulse :)

keFIR: Sickan's warp cab bypass impulse, works great!

keFIR: Ryan's s-preshigh impulse which I'm sure is becoming a taboo soon because of the popularity but I haven't used it on any of my projects yet so I still have my chance to use it! Haha :)

EQ: Another high pass to get rid of some rumble and a slight dip in the 3khz area because of some weird resonance I keep hearing there. Also low pass pretty high up to kill some of the extremely bright fizz but still leaving it pretty sharp and crisp. This EQ is not really doing that much which I'm glad for. 95% of the tone comes straight out of the amp sim. I hate EQing drastically post amp.

That's roughly the chain for now I think but I'm sure I will change that. As Morgan already pointed out, the guitars are indeed a bit nasal which can be good or bad. Nasal guitars often work quite nicely in a full mix but I'm sure I can make it slightly less nasal and with a little bit more body instead. I think the bass guitar needs more work with a bit of EQing though and that is probably going to affect the guitars indirectly as well.

Erkan, the perfectionist, I still have no backround with djenty tones but seems you've made damn effective one! Works well with that unusual (~interesting) chordal work on the clips. Best of luck with final mixing.

dude i could have swore that was a mic'd amp =D kudos on that tone from ampsims, these methods are gonna start putting some people out of business if these free ampsims keep getting better sounding

AHHHHHHHHHHHHH Love at first sight !!!!

I feel that my music sounds like shit after listening to your music, which is a good thing !

Just want to add..

I hope you don't make the drums any more sampled than they are atm. They may not be technically perfect or sound as good as they could, but they have so much attitude and realness. Odd for this style but it totally works and adds to everything. Don't want another machine record.

Although, I'd raise the overheads a bit. The cymbals are very washy and undefined, and you have a lot of cool cymbal work going on. I'd make them quite a bit louder, and thinner if you have to, just so you get that clarity in there.
