I attended a sneak peak screening of this in Boston last Saturday, with the directors there for Q & A.

The documentary is very well done. They mainly stick to developing the characters of Fenriz, Varg and Frost through interviews and (for the latter two) scenes of their everyday experiences. They also get some provoking insights from Hellhammer and Faust regarding all the murder/suicide/arson that took place in the early 90's. This is a film about those events and the ideologies of the 2nd wave founders, and not an educational journey through the whole of Black Metal. If it was it would be missing the point.

The soundtrack is also great, mainly Darkthrone and Burzum songs (including his ambient tracks) and a few non-metal tracks for good balance.

The film was only feature-length, but the DVD will have 4+ hours of footage and plenty of extra goodies.

There will be a screening in London with Nocturno Culto in attendance.
