US Housing Market Faggotry

True.

Remember when gas was $4.50 a gallon?

How come nobody says "remember when like 8 people made $239857 billion dollars?" instead.

i tell ya .. this month I was offered in on countless pyramid and ponzi schemes ... the schiesters are out in full force.

so what you've been doing with your days bro?

Playing music. Sleeping in. Once a week I send out resumes. My one band gigs a lot, my other band makes better music, my solo project has hours upon hours of material. I don't like the uncertainty of being jobless but if they keep the UI checks coming, I'm solid.

You? :Spin:

my take on college in this day and age is the following ... only go IF you plan to become one of the following:

- engineer
- doctor
- lawyer

the above mostly because you HAVE TO have the schooling for them and plenty of it.

the rest, honestly you are better off spending 4 years at a company (starting in the mailroom) that will lead you to your dream career ... you will learn a lot more, faster AND get paid at the same time rather than getting yourself into debt.

college education does not guarantee much any longer. heck, chances are most of your bosses never went to college.

+ professional academic

The best thing about us is that we'll never make much money, and we can accumulate debt on an astronomical level.

We're a particularly sadomasochistic lot.

LOL ... I still stand by my statements you quoted ... and you can see it by the mass layoffs currently happening with mostly professionals in the unemployment office.

answering NAD ... working, A LOT ... been insanely busy the last few months knock on wood. getting paid on time is another story, but I am getting a lot of panicked companies calling me for a miracle fix it all solution. I am trying to milk them for all their worth :loco:

otherwise just laying low ... will email you some details soon :err::p

Pretty much every post of lurch's is dead-on...except for the stuff about how awesome the Crue is....and the above is no exception. Our kids are definitely going to college (in 15 years from now, mind you) but it will be for one of those three things Aurel mentioned. I would however, substitute nursing for engineering. Engineering is somewhat questionable imo. You absolutely must have the education but seems like it's engineers who are first in line at the unemployment office every couple years.
Everything is cyclical though. A few years ago all these RNs were dropping work to study for three years to be nurse anesthetists making $125000 and now the new crop of grads are having to go back to the ICU to find work because the field is completely saturated.
I've also thought I might have the boy learn a trade before going to college. You know, something USEFUL like farming, plumbing, electrical, maybe some axe-murdering. I don't know.
Alot of shitz could happen in 15 years...like the economy could be growing again by then.

I enjoyed it.

Apparently, Chemical Engineers are not having a hard time finding jobs. They're in such high demand, and they are getting paid very well. A friend of mine was offered 75000 a year with full benefits, with just a Bachelor of Science!

im in school to take the CPA exam. there is always a demand for nerds who count, and they get paid well

my wife is finishing her Accounting degree and worked in the biz for years in Europe ...
trying to get her into Forensic Accounting, but she's not a social butterfly under normal circumstances.

Forensic Accounting really intrigues me.

Got Nadded from my job on Friday. No unemployment money for me, as I worked as a temp. It was supposed to be a solid temp to permanent situation, but suddenly the company had to cut a certain number of jobs, so the temps are the first to go in that situation.

Dammit I hate applying for jobs. I think I've applied for 5 since Friday.

According to some sources "Software Engineer" is the number one job right now. I don't believe anything I hear or read anymore but I thought that was interesting.
I actually put some serious thought into going back to get my BS in Chemical Engineering but the notion of going back to school, part-time, just to end up with another Bachelors quickly changed my mind. The only intelligent path for me right now is to get a MS and then a Nurse Practitioner license.

If the wife would support my ass entirely I'd start all over and get a PhD in physics. I'd be so fucking old when I got done, it'd be funny.

How the fuck are the experts missing this shit if even my dumbarse knows what's what?!

1, No whats going to happen
2. Exploit it
3. profit

Math geeks are also in demand, a friend of mine was offered 200K euros salary by a bank. He turned it down to go for his PHD in Math and Masters in Physics.

And yes, he's somewhat socially handicapped (he can be a real dick without meaning to be).

Good software engineers are always in demand, the problem is, they're fucking hard to find.

NAD, check your PMs... later on...

Had an interview at a staffing agency today for a data entry job with American Airlines. That went well, so I have an interview at the airport tomorrow. It's a night shift position, although my first two weeks of training will be daytime hours.

Oh, and it's in the hangar. Workin' night shift in the hangar :headbang:

Speaking of, Hangar 18 is at Wright-Patterson AFB in Fairborn, Ohio. I went to college one mile from there. That makes me awesome.

But yeah, working night shift in a hangar pretty much rules.

Good for him, socially handicapped quants with their heads in the clouds are part of the reason the economy's in the toilet right now. LOL I MADE THIS COOL MODEL ON A COMPUTER LET'S USE IT AS A SUBSTITUTE FOR REALITY, OH BY THE WAY YOU'RE GOING TO LOSE TRILLIONS OF DOLLARS. BUT IT'S REALLY COOL!!

One time when I told a guy at the bus stop I was getting my master's degree in math he was like, "and if teaching doesn't work out you can become an accountant like me!!" and I was like HELL NO and he got really sad and stopped talking to me.
