USB audio interfaces recommendations?

Hi guys,

I'm looking for a cheapish USB audio interface that I can plug in my laptop (running Vista, can't install XP on it...). My budget is around £200. I'm not looking for something with a lot of inputs -- it's just for recording the occasional idea, but driver stability and zero-latency monitoring would be nice.

Any suggestions?

The M-audio and Digidesign range are a good place to start when looking at USB interfaces. Vista is a bit of a minefield when it comes to compatability though, I can't offer any advice regards that.

M-Audio MobilePre is the only thing I can speak of personal experience with in that price range. Good enough for what you are asking, and has zero-latency monitoring. The preamps are so-so, but they do the job.

The Emu kicks the shit out of it though...

Thanks for the advice guys, the Emu and Presonus sound like exactly what I need - I'll check them out.
