Utility Bill Rates

The missus and I pay $825/month in rent, and that includes water. Decent sized 1 bedroom in a decent neighborhood of Long Beach. Our utilities (gas, electric and whatever else) are rarely more than $50. Shitty Charter internet is like $20 a month

don't ever move to Los Angeles

I found an apartment that is all electric, no gas. Electric heat, stove, etc. I know from experience that electric heat is sometimes cheaper than gas. At home, we have both electric heaters and a gas autofireplace and we use the electric heat more so cause it's a bit cheaper.

The problem with BAH rates is it automatically inflates rent up to the point that gets approved. Those don't even remotely represent an accurate market (IE, where there isn't a military base skewing things).

It's a good tool I think, not the best, to judge how much shit costs in an area..not sure if there is something like that but better, but I would be interested
