Vanishing Point Live in Sydney

The boys finally did a headlining show in Sydney at the Annandale Hotel on Friday night.
Was the first time I have seem em live and fuck me swinging, they are awesome. Seriously a world class act. Whilst it was awesome to see them up close, in a way it is a shame that they aren't able to play at decent sized venues... I guess that is just the metal scene in general in Oz huh?? The Annandale is pretty much just a pub, but it didn't detract from the show at all. As I said, it was great to be standing 2 feet from the band as they played.

Silvio is fucking awesome. His voice is so good live. He'd be up there in my top 5 singers at the moment (And after friday night, VP sealed their place in my top 5 bands along with DT, Opeth, Porcupine Tree and Pain of Salvation).
Chris's guitar solos were spot on as well as his backing vocals... Just wish they were a little higher in the mix, particulaly during Embraced casue I love the harmonies in the chorus.

Can't remember the exact setlist but it was something like this:

They played nothing from the first album.

Was good to also chat briefly with Chris after the gig

Glad to hear you had a good time. VP are always good live, so are always worth seeing.

The Australian scene's pretty good, but has a limited number of people who go out to local gigs.

yeah they were awesome again..... Couldn't agree more about Silvio, he's a great vocalist, and has voice is powerful live... Their sound wasn't the best, and yeah, the backing vox - sounded as if they turned em off at one stage? Very strange.

Anyway, good on them for making the trip up here - a world class band indeed, i too will be looking forward to seeing em again live...

Yeah that is true about the crowd. How many people you reckon? 50-100?

Fuck they were good though.... I wonder how much I'd have to pay em to do a gig in my backyard. They rule. I got the goosebumps and a bit teary during the final build up in Embraced. The final chorus when Silv hits those 2 fuck off notes. Love it

I was wearing a denim vest with sheep skin inserts and a Guns N Roses backpath and Xena was wearing a skirt made out of old ties and a white shirt with a Tesla patch on one arm and a Slaughter patch on the other.

She's a Czech porn star who was in Australia recently for a promo visit. According to a news article on Blabbermouth, she got quite chummy with VP's singer while she was here and the rest of the band are still giving him grief about it .
