I personally don't know what to think. I, for one, am not trying to find any excuse for what he has done, but I can't condemn him either. None of us knows what has really happened, Aarseth is dead, Varg will always say his version of course, but still, of course there's something in between. We can't just pretend Aarseth was totally inocent, just like we can't say Varg was guided by a superior force or whatever. They both had their fault. I just hope Varg has matured enough in order to lose that youth terribilism he used to have. He's a grown-up man now, with a family and all. I'm not sure about how much this might have affected his inner state, but one can always give a second chance. We can only wait and see what happens.

It actually does kick ass. Seriously, it's just got this dark, medieval atmosphere to it. I listen to it, especially the title track, and I imagine a plague spreading, peasants dying, and other medieval shit.

I disagree here. De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas is their best, but I've heard songs from Chimera, and from Ordo Ad Chao. They were pretty damn good.

Good he is free, seeing as he has spent most of his life in prison and is now released as a middle aged man. I disagree with some of his fascist ideas, but people got too worked up over a single murder of a mediocre guitarist, (I agree it was cruel) yet everyone overeacted and condemed him as being 'evil'.

Anyway, I just think there is better Dark Ambient out there if thats your thing. I only tend to listen to it if I'm basically really stoned by myself, and in that case I can listen to pretty much anything and get into it, so its not saying much.

The melodramatic, and low-fi atmosphere of filosofem is awesome for Half Life 2

Out of their four full lengths, I only enjoyed DMDS and Ordo Ad Chao, but their Deathcrush and Wolfs Lair Abyss EPs are killer and their live album from Milan fucking slays.

Live in Leipzig is overrated crap in my opinion and is only so highly revered because its their only album with the tr00 vocalist, Dead.
