Venom

Eh, doesn't mean a thing at all. Suffocation are the better band, just because a band influences countless bands does not make them the best.

You can't appreciate the energy and inventiveness of Classic Metal bands. For shame.

How do you get that I can't appreciate the energy and inventiveness of a genre of bands, simply because I think one more recent band is better than a classic one?

Well, in this case, seeing as Suffocation have released some of the best brutal death metal albums, I'm really fucking sure they don't suck.

I think in this comparison your right.Suffacation are talented but its usually centered around lower notes like most DM and its soo drop tuned I cant listen to it for too long.

I wouldn't even say that I prefer Venom over Suffocation - they're two very different bands from different eras, comparing them is pretty pointless - all I'm saying is that at this moment in time I'm opting for a Venom show rather than a Suffocation one!

I love Suffocation and I hope to catch them live before too long, but I'm going for Venom on this occasion, that's all.

I'd love to see Venom. Unfortunatley, I wont be going.

Black Metal is a great album.

They just sound so fucking dated, and I find there influence to be overrated. I think Bathory was far more influential in terms of Black Metal but people like to give Venom credit as "the fathers of black metal" just for coining the term. At least from my analysis of Black Metal and in league with satan.

It's listenable, but it's certainly not a classic.

I agree with you guys, too, but I still think Venom is okay.

Except they can't compare with Bathory.

Lord it's a good thing I'm going back to school Tuesday.

I can only get into Venom at around 5,6 beers. At that point it kicks mega ass & i'm like

fucckkingg veennnomm mann

Venom had a tremendous influence on Bathory. Dumbasses. Bathory wouldn't have been the same and possibly would have never even existed were it not for Venom.

I seem to recall an interview where Quorthorn claimed that he hadn't heard Venom at the time of their first release, and that Motorhead was much more of an influence, but I see where you are coming from.
