How about actual video game metal music! One of the best shooters for one of the most underated video game systems ever! The soundtrack is fucking mind blowing!

One of my first exposures to power metal was actually through a dance video game. God, I loved this song.

Or just take good power metal ( Blind Guardian) and add it to a game.

If you're going to bring any Chrono into this, it needs to be this piece:

Also, anything Michiko Naruke is pretty much amazing:

Man, I could go on for a while without even mentioning Nobuo Uematsu.

Back to the point though...grats! That's a pretty cool song and it's awesome to see you get plugged by WAR. How exactly did that happen?

Taking video game songs and making mediocre metal versions (aka Powerglove) = lame.

There's nothing mediocre about Powerglove's covers. Their arrangements are amazing. They manage to take something relatively simple and 8-bit, and turn it into something much, much more. And those of you pissing all over the band likely haven't actually sat down and listened. You don't have to like them, but their arrangements and skill with their instruments are nothing to roll your eyes at.

Mario:

Batman

Cheesy? Sure. But the arrangements are fucking amazing.

How are the arrangements amazing? Buncha college kids' arrangements vs Dany Effing Elfman's arragements are you kidding me? It's no contest. That Batman score is so classic and iconic that it's almost pointless to cover it. I liked the first Powerglove EP when it came out simply for nostalgia purposes. I grew up with those SNES games and it was fun to hear a "modern metal" version of them. I also give them props on their DIY ethos that got them to where they are. There's something to be said about the way they did everything themselves in an industry full of whiney, money-dependent bands that are too afraid to get their feet wet. But yeah, their arrangements suck imo.

You can say whatever you want. Their arrangements are pretty mediocre.

Nope. The *original* arrangements, as well as most video-game music written by composers such as Nobuo Uematsu and the likes *are amazing*. What they do is simply doing what a bunch of teenagers that happen to like rock/metal and videogames have been doing ever since video games exist. Only Powerglove had the opportunity to ride the Dragonforce wave. They simply did it at the right time and geared it to the right market: Teenage Nerds who are into Dragonforce and videogames. Come on now, it's as gimmicky as gearing Justin Bieber to 11 year old girls.

Yeah. They take a lot of stuff that sounds great just the way it did and make it much, much unbearable.

Bam! Wrong again. I actually sat through their whole album at one point (I'm a gamer myself). It was boring. I'll choose when to roll my eyes at an arrangement and their skill. Go listen to the soundtrack to a game like the Final Fantasy series. That's *fucking amazing.*

But again, this is just my opinion and I am entitled to it, just like you're entitled to yours. It's all good in the end. You like what you like and I like what I like. I am sure we can find some common ground in there somewhere. :)

The pinnacle of epic.

Yes... Yes.... YES!

At my wedding this past October, the Ceremony began with To Zanarkand (FFX) aka one of the most beautiful piano songs on Earth. The Bridal Party (and me) did the church procession to a beautifully piano-strings arrangement of the Prelude theme (FFIV), and during the ceremony we had Love Will Grow (FFII) played as well.

It was beautiful.
