Views On The Darkness?

Well I'd rather see the darkness than that fucking edenbridge any day. I mean, what's the big attraction with all this operatic metal nonsense anyway! It all sounds the fuckin same! Light as magnolia!

Not heard anything by Edenbridge so not going to make any comment on how much they do or don't suck but just gotta say The Darkness rock they have taken all that was good in the 80's and dragged it kicking and (literally) screaming in to the new millenium. Long live The Darkness. :D :lol:

Well said, I don't see why all this operatic "Metal" is so popular all of a sudden.

Sounds shit to me, but then again I did go wearing a Nile t-shirt so I obviously was expecting to be dissapointed with Nightwish.

They profess to only liking something obscure and cultish like "industrial fairy tale nimph dwarf thrash" because "nothing else is metal". They also tend to be the types that claim.."well I used to like them before EMI signed them" or "the first album (you know the one where only 200 copies were issued in the UK) was the best."
Metal is a subjective concept. Who cares about what genre a band fits in or how popular they are? If you like the stuff, you fucking like it. By trying to supress it you're just making a fucking mockery of yourself! Get a fucking life! People have different musical tastes...that guy seems to think he's some superior being because of the music he likes.

He told me he goes to the gym, whatever that is about.

To me the most boring band ever is AC/DC 'cause they're all more samey than Status Quo, whereas I can listen to Master of Reality for the millionth time and not find it boring!

Ozzy - He's just plain stupid making people laugh. That's what good about him. Communicating with the audience.
And come on Sabbath was really bit messed up in the 80's. Gillan, Glenn Hughes, Ray Gillen, Tony Martin, Dio, Rob Halford etc. Singers come and went and making poor music.
Black Sabbath and Ozzy Osborne bands music are generally not very fast slow doomy and it's not quite my style, I want more speed. That's all.
Heaven & Hell is killer though.

Now let's have a look at your questions - why are Sabbath seen as cooler? (Well what matters is what you think - it's just that Sabbath influenced a whole lot more modern day metal bands than Purple did. They're heavier.) What's wrong with Machine Head or In Rock? Ozzy - what's good about him is he used to be in Sabbath. Outside Sabbath he's a joke. As for Sabbath being messed up - err what about half of Burn or Stormbringer or Come Disgrace The Band, or House Of Blue Shite?
