Views On The Darkness?

I agree Purple was crap in the late 80's to now still. I also agree about Sabbath's guitar tone is heavyer and fuzzy.

What do you think of Iommi solo with those horrible singers.

Thin Lizzy was best with last bang Sykes effort!
Thunder & Lightning killer.

I love the Iommi solo album tracks that have Ian Astbury, Pete Steele and, surprisingly, Billy Idol. I hate the ones with Skin, Dave Grohl and especially the one with Ozzy!
IMO Thin Lizzy is best around Jailbreak / Johnny The Fox - but the album I am listening to is Just One Night with John Sykes. That's because I am going to see them soon and I had to get an album with JS on to get signed!

Dude I saw you! You were in that Judas Priest Live In London dvd meeting up with the band! haha! cool

Yep that's me. I also have photos with all of Priest, Sabbath, Maiden, 'Tallica, Megadeth, AC/DC (even though I don't like them), Purple, Heep, Wishbone Ash, Fear Factory, QOTSA, Monster Magnet, Leppard etc. etc. I wish I was bright enough to make a web page!

For everything that's wrong with rock music - and why all non-metal fans take the mick - see The Darkness. Utter crap! The sooner they disappear up their own ****** the better.

Totally agree. As I've said before they should be whipped with nettles dipped in shit!

At least everyone knows the Darkness are having a laugh, where as Manowar etc are deadly serious about wairing lion cloths and having pleasure slaves etc.
Then you have your black metal bands gurning in corpse paint, fucking hell I think the Darkness look positively normal next to some of these muppets.

p.s. I like the Darkness, good old fashioned classic rock.

I have to assume you've never actually heard Queen if you think the darkness singer sounds like freddy mercury. Go give queens a night at the opera album a listen. Freddy was a brilliant vocalist the singer from the darkness while appealing to many is merely a ridiculous vocalist. (confession: when permission to land came out i played it in the record store i work in and laughed my ass off i thought it was great fun now its just plain annoying.)

The Darkness fucking rule. The music's great, they know how to play, the performances are never a let down, and more than anything else, I get immense joy from seeing loud guitar music ripping the rancid throat out of the pseudo R&B shite that's always leaving its shit-smears all over the charts. Sure, they might sound like a tribute band covering songs by a group you've never heard of, but who gives a damn? They're fun, loud, and they aren't overly concerned by the shitstorm of opinion they've sparked. They might not sound metal, but that attitude is metal to the core...

But I'm not saying anyone's wrong for not liking them. We're just different and I'm a better human being ;)

As it happens I've got a big pile of Queen albums in my collection and I still think there is a similarity between Freddie and Justin. Also they have a very Queen sounding guitar sound.

Interestingly, as it turns out, the way that the guys that would later become the Darkness started out was they were sitting in a pub with a karaoke machine, and Justin stood up to sing to 'Bohemian Raphsody'. The guys were so impressed that they decided to abort the dark prog-metal band they'd had going and go for something more flamboyant.

And while I don't think Justin sounds just like Freddie Mercury, there's an obvious tip of the hat to Mr. Mercury in his sound and delivery. And I don't think Justin's vocals are just amusing - when they cover Radiohead's 'Street Spirit' at gigs it sounds incredible.

OK, sounding like an evangelist now. Just thought I'd throw something into the mix...
