on the biography page, it mentions that amon amarth have a strong belief in viking mythology. Would someone be able to tell me more about this or tell me a page where i can find out about this.

Cheers, Will

hahaha this a cool topic! amon amarth and bathory are what got me into the old way! and then i learned as much as possible about it! i was 17 then, now i'm 19 and full pagan ov norther descent! "german/swede/pol/irish/scotch" to be exact not an atheist but a faithful ov the the gods!.

about.com has alot of info about it! i've read milions of pages about theres a huge wealth of info on the net about it! i personaly like books though! not so much christian destortion on some ideas heheheh i refuse to belive that tyr converted to christianity or that ragnarokk has come to pass long ago!

such ideas are mind blowingly off base.

Hey, Ragnarok is the viking's apocalypse if you will and all god dies except 2 if my memory serves me correct, and the reason is that they hid in the Yggdrasil tree. Why did the tree save them? i dont know :D Odin is the god of knowledge,he gave away one of is eye to gain "super" knowledge...
Thor is well.. everyone knows who he is :D Mjolnir was the name of is Hammer.
Badr is Odin's second son and was invincible ,the only thing that could hurt him was mistletoe...
Frigg is odins wife
Frey and Freya are identical twins i think...
Tyr is the god with only one hand, he lost is hand to Fenris (An evil gigantic wolf also called Fenrir...) .The reason for this is that they tried to enprison fenris once with a chain but fenris easily broke free of that chain so they made a magic rope that was indestructible and tried to attach fenris with it.They told him they just wanted to see if he could break free of it so fenris NOT trusting them ask them that one of them put is hand in is mouth while he was getting binded, realizing that hed been trick he bit is hand off (obviously Tyr was the one that chose to put is hand).
The name of that rope was Gleipnir
Odin's horse is called Sleipnir and is spear is Gungir (might spelled it wrong)
The land where the giant lived was Jotunheim
The land where the human lived was Midgaard (wich means middle earth!)
The land where the gods lived was Asgard
Nifelheim could KINDA be the same thing as hell ,this is where the goddesse HEL (only one L) lived
Jormungand was a big ass dragon!!! gargantuan!

and.. hmm ya... thats all i remember by heart :D

Nifelheim is actually the land of ice, this where the frostgiants live and the seeds of life is.
And the goddesse Hel lives in Helheim, this is the place where dishonored warriors go.
The place that is kinda like hell is Muspelheim.
When Ragnarök(in sweden we say ragnarök) comes, the fires of muspelheim kills everybody but melts the ice in Nifelheim so the seeds of life is released and life is created again.

Yes jormundgard is a snake that surrounds midgard. If Hel is a offspring of Loki i don't know.
Jormundgard kills Tor on ragnarök if I'm not mistaken

Not to mention Bifrost being the bridge between Midgard and Asgard guarded by Heimdall who blows on the Giallarhorn to announce the onset of Ragnarok. The survivors of Ragnarok will be Vali, Vidar, Magni, Modi and Hoenir + Balder and Hoder will be brought back to life.

Yes i know but i have seen the term dragon use often. And when u think about chinese dragon they look like giant snake and as far as Nifelheim i did read that Hel lived there but you know some sources contradict themself so :( But it is the land of ice :p

Define "teachings" for me and I'll tell you. As in written text a la the bible or oreder of ceremonies and such?
