Which band with Andreas "Vintersorg" Hedlund involved happens to be your favorite?
VINTERSORG-Main band and my personal favorite. Seems like everything, from the folk/viking stuff to the new prog/astral material is excellent and always appeals to me. Best album is hard to decide, possibly The Focusing Blur, Cosmic Genesis or Odemarkens Son.
BORKNAGAR-Empiricism and Epic both are very good records, with Empiricism being one of my favorite albums ever. Unlike most, I don't think Epic was just a mediocre record and a big step down, I find it similar in many ways to Empiricism and almost as good. Definitely better than The Archaic Course or Quintessence, but I think it gets the bad rap because it IS similar to Empiricism instead of being something completely different like their other albums usually are. If you choose these guys, make sure it's because of the Vintersorg lead material to keep it fair.
OTYG-Beer swinging folk music and some really good stuff. Haven't heard the demos, but the two albums they put out are great. Almost similar to Vintersorg's early material, but with its own touch to make it something very different.
Havayoth-Probably not many have heard this project as it seems a little harder to find. Sounds like Cosmic Genesis with a more classic feel and a tad of a proggy feel too, but nothing to the extent of something like Visions from the Spiral Generator. I'm enjoying it.
Fission-New project. I've yet to hear the whole album, just the sample that spaffe provided, but I think I'm going to like this. Should be out later this month hopefully. I'll throw 'em in for future reference and just in case someone has heard the whole album.
So take your pick and discuss the various Vintersorg led bands. I can't quite put my finger on why, but for some reason, everything the man puts out is gold, it always hooks me. I've seriously yet to hear something by the V I haven't liked and that's quite an accomplishment in my books.
