There are loads of threads on this if you use the search function. Audio Technica ath-m50s are probably the best choice in that price range.

ATH-M50 no doubt. Keepin mind that they have to burn in before using, so dont get scared when you first try them and sound like total shit
Play music through the headphones for an extended amount of time at a moderate level (24 hours would be good). The response will change. It's the same concept as breaking in guitar speakers.

You could play pink noise through them for like a whole day or week or something.
I went from sennheiser hd280's and the m50's sounded really bassy, but it's because there's almost no bass in the sennheisers. i really dig the m50s

Mixing- Used Sennheiser HD600
Tracking- HD280 will do fine, they're fatiguing when mixing though.

Actually the m50's are anything but flat sounding to me. A lot of people like them but I wouldn't recommend them
How could you have come up with nothing? There were 4 or 5 threads this past year on this subject alone.

Not a fan of the M50's myself. Extensively use AKG Q701's for studio stuff, though the almost complete absence of any sort of bass is a major turn-off for most people.

hehe I would recommend to check out some headphones yourself, because with headphones its a personal thing. Maybe there are some bigger shops or maybe you have friends that have headphones

Putney uses HD600 as well as a few experienced engineers in my area. GS gives them quite a bit of praise.
