Mars is brighter than it has been in thousands of years. Tonight. If it has already passed, tomorrow it will be excellent too.
Since I'm going to bed now, I'll add that it is visible to the Southwest of Connecticut (where I live) and it may not be red. Brightest thing in the sky. It may look like a huge/bright star.

If you have a telescope with a primary mirror diameter of over 4.25 inches you will be able to see polar caps...so if you have a telescope bust it out and take a look. It will be closest at 2:51 am pacific time i think, so enjoy if there's no clouds. If there are, go look at it tomorrow because it will be almost as bright. There are clouds here unfotunately so Im off for the mountains! Happy viewing :kickass:
