What do you think? got close to the orignal? (black heart on their resurrection album).
Nothing too special but im just trying some stuff.. i wanted to do this song with a real bass, but the bass still not arrived so i thought might as well post it now.

I realise that i could have upped the OH's a bit in volume.. im pretty happy with the snare though.

Anyway shoot...

i havent listened to chimaira since pass out of existence, so i have not heard this song...... but anywho, it sounds good anyhow. seems to be pretty bassy already. might have to high pass those guitars a little more once you slappa da bass! what amp did you use?

It's all POD XT.. 4 tracks, it's probably the reason bass being a bit too bassy?
Should sound better with a real bass, coming soon!

Wow Bob, the guitar sounds nice man, of course not 100% identical but damm. I think your guitar sounds more spread out too. Are you using some kind of saturator, tape simulator ? i ask this cuz of the little "clipping" when the guitar are alone. This is one of the best line6 tones i ever heard.
Criminal model -treadplate - mic off axis?

Pxz: it's the usual patch i used on "burn bright" as well.. the big bottom patch, two tracks of 57 on-axis, and two of 57 off-axis.
The wee clipping is probably because i have recorded the guitar tracks a bit too hot..

What bass did you end up buying bro? im looking for some bass aswell, apparently im going after an ibanez SR, im buying it before testing it so thats kind lame if the bass sucks.

Hah.. what a co-incidinky.. im getting a Ibanez SR as well, 300 series.. i did play one a bit (was in white, i wanted the black one and it was sold out) and it was great for me.. thin neck, low action and it sounded pretty good for it's price.. what one are you after?

It's got that heaviness to it that Chimaira is always doing, but it doesn't sound quite as clear. I'm sure maybe a little EQ/Comp/etc. will help, which i know you can do just fine.

Maybe the recording being too hot going in caused what i'm hearing?

Could be man, that and the not so tight played 4 guitartracks from me.. ;)
Sort of a rough mix still, just wanted to see how close i could get with the POD XT, and the software i have here.
