i hate everyone for being so drunk. i've been dry for three straight days and of course i have a terrible headache and a very strong intent of drinking everything is sight (like, say, my printer) as soon as possible. argh.

I don't get why the italians are so happy when their team loses

the reason, in short, is that here in italy there's a lot of enthusiasm around football, and ppl watching matches forget about everything else to just numb their head for a few hours, go out being generally stupid for more hours, and the media play along talking about football as if it were the most important piece of news in the nation.
yesterday, when italy lost to korea, out of 6 tv-news, only 1 did have as its first news in the evening the murdering of 13 ppl in the middle-east. all the others talked at length about the world cup before even considering any other subject.
i don't like italy winning not out of spite for the sport itself, but since all the hype gets on my nerves. :)

I personally haven't been happy at all with Italy losing, and would have more than gladly accepted some hours of sheer happy foolishness of thousands of people in the whole country (which is smt I, once in a while, don't frown upon at all, though I personally take very rarely part in it). Having made this clear, of course talking about soccer before talking about murdered people is plain idiocy and stupidity. I'm not happy at all Italy lost, but in any case sport is one thing, murdered people is another one. And the two level are not comparable, of course. It's simply a matter of being a civil country.
