I guess I knew about half of my year (my year consisted of around 200 odd people) But for some reason I could be everyones best friend one day and then completely shunned another times.

Meh.

I agree with Derek...thats pretty harsh, dude
alright maybe not die, but its like, popular people look at everyone else like theyre nothing and they think theyre so cool because everyone follows them and just about everyone is their friend. IMO id rather be in a group with a good amount of best friends instead of having a billion people follow you thinking that theyre cool because they know the popular person. i had to deal with that on the alaskan cruise i was on this past summer. me and a couple other people i met i guess stood out the most and everyone started following us. i hated it.

I was either loved or hated by those who knew me. I'm "the weird kid", but not in a bad way. I just say and do weird things on purpose.

I stopped paying attention to the popularity contest, and what do you know...it vanished. By the time I was in my senior year I had forgotten all about cliques and trends, and I had friends of all kinds.

Not a ton of friends, mind, just friends of all kinds.

i took drama all four years and was in all the plays and shit so i was pretty well known on campus but i wouldnt really say i was 'popular'. i had friends of many different kinds but i mostly hung out at the back of the school with only a few people.

It seems like the world at the time, it really does. Yet, when you get older it all sort of falls into place. Those people mean nothing to you, and you realise they never did - you just let yourself care.

Thing is, people enjoy cliques, holy damn they do. One of the most important things I ever learned was to stop caring about that nonsense. Who cares what X does, says or wears? I'm gonna go watch Next Gen re-runs, post-season 4 (cause the harking back to the original series prior to season 4 makes me weep, slightly.)

I was not at ALL popular in high school. Why? Cuz I wasn't a jock/hick/mormon. I mean, no offense to any of those but if you weren't one of those you were pretty much an outcast. The only thing I was known for was being a drummer and actor and that didn't improve my popularity. I almost got into a fight with one of the jocks my senior year because we were using the gym and that's where we put on our plays. The track team would come in there to do their stretches, etc etc and totally distract the drama team and keep us from rehearsing cuz of their loud fucking mouths. I finally said something along the lines of, "Why don't you go stretch outside? That's where you're going to be running anyway." The jock said,"Why don't you fuck off, you stupid fucking drama queen!"

Needless to say, I was about an inch from his face about to thrown down and fortunately my drama director and his track coach separated us cuz I was about to severely hurt him.
