Whammy Bar/Tremelo Arm

I feel really stupid asking this question, What is the difference between a whammy bar and a tremelo arm? are they the same? or are they different?

cause i just recently watched Alexi's Reap N' Roll licks and he had a Jackson RR Custom with green pinstripes, and his whammy bar setup on it was really weird. Or is it a tremelo arm?

I'm not sure, I dont even own an electric guitar (yet), but i think whammy bar is just you push it down to lower the note, and Tremelo arm you can pull up and push down and do crazy bends nearly a hole octive (i think).

This is just a guess really, if Im right I get a cookie

the answer to this is... the "tremelo" is a bit of a misnomer, because it doesn't provide a tremelo effect at all, it provides a vibrato or bending effect... whammy bar is a better name for it than tremelo, but speaking from a guitarist point of view, most people know of it as a tremelo, and the bar as a whammy bar...
