Ok, so i have some of the Big 4 - among the living, ride the lighnting, master of puppets, and justice for all, megadeth's so far so good so what, rust in peace, and Reign in Blood.

But what else? what are some other bands to check out? Testament? Overkill?

What are y'all's favorites?

thanks guys

Helstar - Burning Star/Remnants of War : classy, speedy power metal
Overkill - The years of decay : good pure thrash
Death Angel - Act III
Testament - Practice what you preach or New Order
Forbidden - Twisted into form
Helloween - Keeper of the Seven keys

only a couple of suggestions

I might get slagged for this but I reakon Killswitch Engage's 'Alive or Just Breathing' is amazing.

Check it out.

I meant to add Killswitch Engage isn't as old school as what others are suggesting (wisely too!) - they have more of a new sound but are still straight ahead metal. There is nothing nu-school as some have suggested.

Dont forget old Sepultura. Arise and Beneath the Remains are masterpieces. I didnt see anyone mention Slayer either. Check out pretty much any of their old albums. Suicidal Tendencies mid 80's stuff is fucking great also. Pantera, Cowboys from Hell, and Vulgar Display of Power, fucking great.

I also have a special place in my heart for Mr. Bungle. The raging wrath of the easter bunny is a fucking sick album. Very thrashy and unique sounding.

Anthrax's Im the Man is a must have album also.

couple others that people mentioned that are really really good

Death Angel - Act III
Testament - Practice what you preach or New Order
exodus - fabulous disaster or bonded by blood

Judging from the albums you've listed I'd say you'd surely like:
Testament - Practice What You Preach, Souls of Black, New Order
Exodus - Bonded by Blood
Sepultura - Chaos AD, Arise
Sacred Reich - Surf Nicaragua, The American Way
