MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine and director Michael Sarna (MEGADETH's "Of Mice and Men" video) were together on Friday (May 27) filming material for the Gigantour documentary DVD. According to Mustaine, footage filmed so far includes "just more preliminary stuff like when we confirmed some of the other bands, and phone calls, etc. Also interview footage of why I am undertaking this insanity." The documentary will include everything from behind the "metal curtain" of Mustaine's office, working on the last details of the tour, to pre-production, to rehearsals and the bands all meeting up in Fresno, California, to taking the mighty festival on the road. Songs from the various bands on the tour, soundchecks, and other various stuff will be included on the DVD.

Gigantour is a six-week festival trek co-headlined by MEGADETH and DREAM THEATER. Other main-stage acts include FEAR FACTORY, THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN and NEVERMORE. Artists scheduled to appear on the second stage are LIFE OF AGONY, DRY KILL LOGIC, SYMPHONY X and BOBAFLEX.

Symphony X?!

Looks like Gigantour is skipping over my town.. oh well.
I would like to see Megadeth & SyX, but I'm not too excited about the other bands. I've seen 'Deth and SyX multiple times before, so it's not worth a 4 hour drive to see the tour. Regardless, it's a beter lineup than Ozzfest, for sure!
The DVD could be interesting to see

SX really isn't one of my very top bands, but they are a quality band and are absolutely brilliant live. Russ Allen is one of the best kept secrets in metal.

It'll be cool to see Russell Allen blow every other vocalist off the stage (maybe not Warrell Dane, but it'll be close).

I think Russ is way better singer than Warrell, but Warrell has a very distinct style and that makes him as great. It's silly to compare two totally different worlds, really, they both rule in their own departments. One couldn't replace the other and vice-versa...

no NW dates?! Even with a band that is huge aroiund these parts in Nevermore?! Fuck!
here's the sets broken down in minutes.
Nevermore gets a mere 30 min. & are the openers for the main stage?! Before this band that I haven't even heard a note of?!
That's fucked!
anyway here you go...

Dave Mustaine has yet again commented on his upcoming GIGANTOUR that is set to kick off this Summer, confirming when what bands will be playing, and for how long:

Stage 1:

MEGADETH - (90 mins)
DREAM THEATER - (90 mins) - 6/21-9/3/2005
FEAR FACTORY - (45 mins) - 6/21-9/11/2005
THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN - (30 mins) - 8/2-9/11/2005
NEVERMORE - (30 mins) - 6/21-9/11/2005

Stage 2:

LIFE OF AGONY - (40 mins) - 6/21-9/11/2005
SYMPHONY X - (30 mins) - 6/21-9/11/2005
DRY KILL LOGIC - (20 mins) - 6/21-9/11/2005
T.B.A. - (20 mins) - 6/21-9/11/2005
BOBAFLEX - (20 mins) - 6/21-9/11/2005

His message was concluded with the following statement:

"Once DREAM THEATER has to leave, I have my short list for the next act to finish out the last week of Gigantour 1 in North America; ANTHRAX, TESTAMENT, and OVERKILL are just to name a few. In fact, I left things with Scott Ian and we both agreed, that it would be a perfect time and position for ANTHRAX, as I am sure it would.

"So, for now, I am pretty much done with all of the selecting talent, excluding the announcement of the "new school who does old school" metal band coming up this week. The holiday took precedence over the tour business and I was unable to wrap this up before the weekend, but it will get finished this week."

i still cant believe he picked fucking "bobaflex" over Overkill for stage 2......that better not be forshadowing next year's lineup..... :erk:

From what I understand Overkill is booked in Europe well into August so I don't think they could do it. Not sure if they were asked, but if they were they sure as hell would get more than 20 minutes. Dave put this thing together pretty late and I think he's done an amazing job with most of the bands. Sure I could do without Bobaflex, DEP, and Dry Kill Logic but that is part of going to a festival like this. Your not going to like everthing. I might even like some of them after I see them play. Also, remember the ticket price is low for this show and he very well couldn't have lined up a bunch of headliners for this thing. I just hope it does well so there will be a second one. More time and planning can only bring better things next year.

Sixx, it sucks they aren't coming anywhere near ya. Seems like it's skipping some pretty big areas. I think this might have something to do with the short amount of time to book these shows too. Hope you get out to one of the show in Cali.

Man, as much as I dig Dream Theater (have even partied with them, hehe) I wish beyond wish that Nevermore was second on this bill. It would take the 60 min or so to hear the whole range of what these guys are capable of.

Once more people hear them, watch out..... Warrel, Loomis, Smyth.....OMFG, this is a shred fest from second one.

If I had my say, they would drop it to Megadeth, Nevermore, Testament and Dream Theater. :headbang: :headbang: :headbang:

Don't get me wrong, Sym X is badass in thier own right, but they are on second stage. I was meaning the main stage.

I also wish that Testament gets added, Dave has mentioned it, so we will see.
