What are the most essential DRUDKH albums?

'Songs of ...' is beautiful. The ONLY dissapointing aspect of the release is the way the band have re-used a few old riffs (riffs from previous Drudkh albums) and played them acousticly.

If I could truly offer any real criticism of Songs Of Grief and Solitude, it is only that I had wished it had included an even stronger ethnic influence (e.g. "Song Of Sich Destruction" the last song on Lebedynyi Shlyakh [The Swan Road]). I loved the singing style and the instrument used, it reeks of culture :kickass:

As for re-usage of riffs from previous albums - the only song I know that was re-used was "Glare Of 1768" from Lebedynyi Shlyakh (The Swan Road). Personally, I appreciated its usage. I must admit though, I am biased - many people from the main forum pay me out because I love Drudkh so much, but it can't be helped. Aside from Negura Bunget and Temnozor, Drudkh leads the Black Metal world today in ethnic and cultural expression, and to me, this is Black Metal's truer and higher purpose. A strong appreciation for culture yields a deeper understanding of true Black Metal as a concept.

I should be getting their new album Estrangement in the next couple of weeks, deluxe edition! wonder how this one is going to sound. You heard anything about it at all Hub? I just heard it is going to be Burzum esque nothing new there then!

I also have it on pre-order. To my knowledge, the album isn't leaked yet so we'll have to wait a bit longer. Anyway, I'm not listening until I get the original.
