For myself my favourite "Brutal" song would have to be Demon of the Fall and as for "Beautiful" there's no doubt that it is Still Day Beneath The Sun

Brutal: Serenity Painted Death
Beautiful: Black Rose Immortal (it is a love song, afterall)

johnny wonderpants:
heaven can wait is such a bad maiden song.
i'm going to see converge in 2 days. are you seeing them on the current tour?

as for the topic at hand:
brutal - leper affinity/april etherial
beautiful - night & silent water/when/epilogue

This is a strange question considering Opeths Music is primarily Brutal and Beautiful at the same time, heres my choice

Brutal - Karma :headbang:

Beautiful - Godheads Lament

the moor can be the answer for both.

for entire songs in each: brutal: i don't know (maybe leper affinity, demon on the fall, serenity painted death, blackwater park, the moor)

beautiful: face of melinda and benighted.

Brutal: April Ethereal (The only times it lets up is when its about to get even more brutal)
Beautiful: Credence (A narrow winner, but simply a more textured beauty than its rivals)
Both In Same Song: Godhead's Lament (From the lowest pits to highest peaks, this song takes you places)

Brutal: Master's Apprentices

Beautiful: Moonlapse Vertigo (The part in the intro... you know what I mean. It's the most beautiful piece of music that I have ever heard. It takes me to "another place".)
