I like Iron Maiden, but I would never consider myself a fan, I might listen to 3 maybe 4 songs. They are really good songs, but I have not heard entire albums other than their Killers album. Im a Judas Priest fan, its my biggest vocal influence and I was wondering what are the best Iron maiden songs that most people dont talk about?
A lot of bands I like, get only a few of their songs played on the radio and most of the time I love everything else way more than those songs. Like Twisted Sister, I cant stand the songs on the radio anymore, once I found their album Big hits and Nasty cuts I actually became a fan, and I bought that because I thought the cover was cool looking and I did like the few songs I had heard on the radio at the time.(The Price, I wanna rock) from my artist perspective I wanted to draw the cover and some of the pictures and I figured Ill take it home, look for some cool imagery for drawing ideas and listen to some new rock. The cd blew me away, I didnt know they could be as heavy as they were, I was hooked.
When I listened to the Killers album I liked it, but not enough to go and buy more albums or listen to more songs.
I am more mature nowadays and have more of an open mind than I had when I was 15.
So what bands do you listen to that you didnt become an actual fan until you bought an album?
What songs got you interested in the band?
How do you feel about the radio not playing that many songs of so many bands?
Most importantly, what Iron Maiden songs and albums are their best? Because I want to listen to them more and dont know where to start.

For starters: radio is dead! Has been dead for years now. You want to know a band? Download => Evaluate => Purchase or discard. Radio seldom plays the best songs, usually the "hits" or whatever the label decided is worth to be played.

Now into your questions

A) Hammerfall, Night Demon, Air Raid, Testament, Metallica, Megadeth, Metal Church, Helloween, Candlemass, Rush, Pink Floyd, Transatlantic, Woslom...perhaps like 90 % of my actual collection

B) Songs on the Internet, songs friends played for me, songs I heard live.

C) Refer to the first paragraph.

D) Favorite albums: "Killers" and "Piece Of Mind"
Best albums: all between 1980 and 1988
Best songs: 'Flight Of Icarus', 'Running Free', 'Prodigal Son', 'Back In The Village' , 'Rime Of The Ancient Mariner' , 'The Trooper', 'Hallowed Be Thy Name', 'Children Of The Damned', 'Caught Somewhere In Time', ' Only The Good Die Young', etc.

Personal faves are 7th Son & Powerslave.
Just avoid Virtual XI and Final Frontier and you'll be a happy camper.

Awesome, I got new bands names I havent heard of and will be checking them all out!
Yeah radio is dead, but when I was growing up the internet was absent due to me being only interested in finding game cheat codes, artwork and porn, lol.
Thanks for the suggestions too Wdiv!
This helps a lot, plus it gives me more stuff to bombard my guitarist with for inspiration, lol.

happens to me all the time. The offer nowadays is huge, like in HUGE.

When I was young there was no Internet, so radio indeed let me get acquainted with many bands (not necessarily became a fan), also MTV did the same through their early rotation and then Headbangers Ball. Then as the information highway appeared, the other media (radio, magazines, TV) died for my the music needs.

Curious, I'm still using internet the most to find cheat codes, artwork and porn

Lol, I was poor and most times if I saw mtv it was Beavis and butthead, that was also a good place to find metal, thats how I got into Crowbar!

The only time I listen to the radio is when I want to hear 70's rock. I am a metal-head and listen to metal about 90% of the time. What little I listen to the radio is either a football game or the classic rock station.

Having said that, my favorite "hair" band that had radio hits was probably White Lion. Really good band with their own style despite being "poppy" though they would probably not sound as good any other way.

The Scorpions also had some great tracks that weren't "radio hits" as well.
AC/DC is so well known, almost all of their "prime" stuff has been played on the radio, but there really isn't a song from "Highway to Hell" - "For Those About to Rock" that doesn't kick ass.
Some of the best Black Sabbath songs also came from the Tony Martin era. He is such a MONSTER of a singer, but was not so famous.

Forgot to mention songs. "Lady of the Valley" by White Lion. Best song by them in my ears....... not a radio hit.

AC/DC..... hell almost everything by them is played on the radio..... except C.O.D. from FTatR. awesome song.
