What do you guys use for Bass dirt?

Sansamp really sucks in my opinion. Sounds like a fart when going for some dirt. I used a Dual Rec for dirt... but it's not giving me that growl... it's more like a guitar distorted in the background.

What do you use for Bassdirt!?

There's different kinds of sounding dirt. Post a youtube clip or something of what you're trying to achieve.

I've used the LePou SoloC in Crunch-mode in the past for the dirt. Not really for high-gain tone grit, but just some nice extra grit. It's worth experimenting with.

I just use the logic amp modeler and use one of the guitar amps

I like this http://www.bteaudio.com/software/Juicy77/Juicy77.html surprisingly much. I don't think I would use it on guitar (although I have never actually tried it on guitar), but I like it on bass. The different cabinet types give nice different flavours of grit.

Whatever I do, I always mix it with the original bass, and even HP the distorted version if I need to.

Run a distortion pedal into your BDDI, like the old Boss HM-2 Should give it the grindage you seek.

I use the sansamp for my "clean" sound then distort a perfectly clean tone
And blend.

sansamp is great for clean piano like basstones. I blend that with an amp distorted sound. Lately using podfarm with jcm800 with some dirt pedal in front.

The distortion track sounds like shit but blended with the clean bass it realy works. It brings the low bass in the middle between the guitars and closes that hole

+1. You need big balls to do this because, if you are without; instant death.

and the most important thing is the bass guitar. The wont get no good sound with a shitty bass.

The distrotion sounds like comeback kid has are easy to get with a vt bass and a squier, music man or fender jazz.

With schecter and ibanez basses you can get a bit more metal style distortion sounds more meaty but not that crispy
