What do you guys use for Bass dirt?

we recorded with a Fender J in Drop C. I'll have to try around a lot I guess! Whish we had more time to try around... :D Thanks for all the input, guys!

hey that's interesting.

how different are the settings for the psa1?

not extremely different I think...don't know though, as I always tweak by ear without looking at the dials.

the "PSA after the amp" is actually "after the mic" as well, so it's a signal through the amp, cab etc and THEN put the PSA on the reamped signal in PT.

That "after" psa is adding some distortion as well, the "pre-psa" is mainly used to make the amp sound "bigger"

HP/LP lows and highs to separate tracks. SansAmp with a low drive setting on lows, and SansAmp followed by Pod Farm Bass Driver on the highs.

I have 2 dirt tracks a Sansamp RBI with a decent amount of gain, and then an ampsim going dirty as hell but blended lower.

I absolutely love Comeback kid (especially Wake The Dead, but especially NOT Broadcasting). The bass player in my band emailed Bill Stevenson (I think) ages ago and he said the bass tone on Wake the Dead was:

Stingray > Sansamp > Ampeg

FUCKING AWESOME. That breakdown just slays.

its the holy grail of a bass tone IMHO !!!!
love that album (broadcasting was shit. Only got like 3 good songs)

Sansamp is amazing to add some distortion in the bass, andy also uses it.
if you cannot make it sound good then there are 2 reasons:
1)the bass guitar sucks
2)you have to work more with the sansamp

Bass DI---> Reamp through Hartke ---> Royer 121 ----> Avalon 737 ---> Motu ---Cubase.
Take this and LP 15hz Bell -4db@~450hz HP 600
Then: Bass DI (other track) LP 500hz HP 4800hz ---> Big Muff (easy settings) ---> Avalon 737 Overdrived ---> Motu ---> Cubase
Blend the two tracks, output them to a Bass group, and add Chorus with low rate.

How to blend the clean DI and distorted signals to play directly from a pc in realtime with reaper ?
