What gauge strings.....

right now i am using 13-56. Seems to work ok except for the asshole at GC gave me a set with a wound G string which totally screws me up.

B standard I'd go 13-56, I don't like overly thick low strings (like fucking .70's) that some people do, since I like to be able to do crazy pinch harmonic vibrato, and I think when you get that thick the sounds loses too much attack. However, what guitar are you using 'em on, Kyle? Cuz for B standard on a 24.75" scale neck (LP style), I would need to have a wound G for the sake of tension, much as I hate them for soloing.

I am using the Jackson COW-6 string they sent me. Its a 25.5" scale. i am with you on the pinch harmonics. Right now like I said the 13-56 feels awesome, but that wound g string really screws me up for soloing.

All depends what your focus is - as a soloist, I love having an unwound G for goofy bends, but I also recognize the appeal of a wound G for rhythm stuff

Check out the D'addario EXL 145 set (.12-.54) - a little thin for my tastes for B tuning, but there's your unwound G! It's what I use for C-standard, works great :)

13-56 here

personally i think the G string is always the weak link in heavier strings like that tho...wound sounds better IMO but it messes up my lead playing big time, unwound feels better but sounds extremely dead IMO

i never was able to set up a guitar to my liking with a tuning that low...which is why i got the 7 string, that way at least most of the guitar can sound normal to my ears

013-056 felt good for me, with a wound G of course. I do prefer 7-strings when going that low though, and pretty much only play 7-strings anymore. On my 7-string, I've got 010-056's (so essentially it's the same 013-056, just with a 010 for E) and they feel pretty good. I do have to say that I'm on a 27" scale, with a 25.5" scale I used to use 010-052's and a 068 for B.
