What if Russell Allen entered into American Idol..?

Something that pisses me off about the 'chart-toppers'..is you can have the most pathetic "song"..as long as you have lots of T&A in your video clips you will make money on it. And if you're a woman you have to either be prepared to show alot of flesh..or on the other hand, whats cool is the 'i-dont-have-to-be-sexy-to-be-cool' look thats going around now (avril lavigne, kelly osbourne) but it's all still fake.
And the Popstars show they had here i remember a couple of very beautiful and talented girls that were let go..and the people that made it to the end were TERRIBLE, no talent, no style, nothing. bah!
 
Well, it's funny how, if you're a girl, you have to show off your body. And if you're a guy, you show off other girl's bodies. Strange huh? Although some guys show off together with the naked girls. It's a sick world we're living in. :ill:
 
I have to disagree with many people who posted here. American Idol is probably the best reality show on TV. The "Talent Show" format is simple and it's genuinely entertaining. I'm a metal fan and have been since I was 13, but I can appreciate talent in other musical genres. I didn't watch the first season of American Idol, but I watched almost all of the second season and I have to say it was completely fair, and at least one of the judges (Simon) wasn't a kiss ass who told everyone "Hey, great job for trying". In the early shows they showed the clips of the contestants who were judged worthy of moving on, and when you look at Clay Aiken you can't say he was judged unfairly because of his goofy looks. They let him move on because he has a great voice. He improved his appearance dramatically over the following months, but so what. If you had a chance to become a music star (which nobody can deny is largely based on looks in the Pop music area) wouldn't you work on your appearance?

Anyway, the point I'm trying to make is that there was nothing wrong with this show. It's the equivalent of a Battle of the Bands in rock and metal music. The public voted for who they liked the best in the end, and I think they made the right decision until the final one. However, I think the 2 best performers were the last 2 in the competition, so they must have been doing something right. And they were both very good singers, so you can't say they sucked. I think people are getting tired of the reality TV crap (I know I am) but this is one show I think can brush all that aside because they are simply bringing to TV what occurs in night clubs and county fairs (Country) all over America.

I like the show and think it's worth having on. Now if we could just get rid of the crap like "Mr. Personality". What a piece of crap that was. They even had to stoop to getting a girl who is famous for giving a blow job to host it.

In any case, I think Russel would do well on the show but I don't think he'd win. He's a metal singer with an incredible range of styles, but he's not a pop singer (thank GOD).
 
hell Russ isnt even to be put in the same category as such things.
And for just once..i want to see a less than average looking, preferably a little overweight woman, who of course is a very good singer..in a video clip with half naked bimbo men..and the camera exploiting them for a change, and acting like she can have her pick of any of them in the same fashion that men do in their clips. that would rock. shania twain does the 'himbo' thing, but its not the same because she is also capitalizing on her appearance, therefore still annoying.

LMAO! are you trying to tell me that Amy Lee from Evanescence is an overweight unattractive woman?? I'd hate to see what your standards are at if thats the case. Anyhoo..her voice is amazing, the only female singer i've ever heard that gets even ME all hot under the collar. Other than that i just do not get into female vocalists at all. (Or practically anyone other than Russell anymore for that matter lol sad i know)

WHOAH, nelly! I didn't say she was unattractive. I was agreeing with you saying she is average. Sorry, but it must be my standards. She's pretty, but I don't think she's any prettier than you. And from what I understand, her label has been trying to get her to lose weight to sell more records, which I think is rediculous.

Yes she does have an awesome voice. I rank her second behind Floor for my favourite female singer, besides my opera, jazz, etc. Even before The Cranes and Suzane Vega and Tori, and boy do I like them!

No-one has come along in a long time that could possibly top even Mrs. Vega in my book.

No, because I want people to respect me and you don't get respect from looking good. You get things more easy, but if you're a complete idiot, looks won't help. Anything you might achieve just doesn't last, if you don't have any hard work/talent to back it up with. Real people see through that.

Well, he's not really a metal singer, because he can do so much more. He's not like Timo Tolki. Imagine him singing anything else than power metal. I don't think he'd fit anything else. But Russell isn't metal-exclusive, he can sing a broad range of music, because he has a real quality voice. He can't make anything sound bad. Nothing that I can think of right now anyway. :cool:

What if he WON?! He would get all the hype from the teenie-boppers, and then kick all their fake dreams in the teeth when he tells them that he's in Symphony X, and refuses to be their idol... REVENGE ON THE POP CULTURE!!!
