Depending on the car, Mobil 1 is a good choice.

It's got a bucket load of calcium, ZDDP, and a decent amount of Moly. A genuine synthetic basestock.

Penrite has none of the above (but is semi-OK)

What are you running it in ?

Cool, I'd make sure that they use either the 0W-40 "Super-Syn" Mobil 1, or the 5W-40 "Delvac 1".

And I'd use "Redline" for the gearbox and diff ($32/litre, but you get that on the big jobs)

I wanted a 318 back when I thought performance vehicles.

I don't know anything about oils and stuff, they just put in what they want and charge me a heap for it. I take it to a proper BMW place, and I'm pretty happy with their work. I'm sure they know what they're doing.

I wish I had a BMW....they're not that dear if you get one from the 80's, and they still look good. whats the fuel economy like in your BMW Phloggy?

No, it's a problem with VR commo's apparently that no one knows how to fix, unless I replace the whole fuel line and tank.

I got all the dent's fixed, and a new radiator though.

I'm not really sure, but I think at the moment I'm getting about 220 km before I feel the need to fill up and I put about 25 litres a go in it (I'm paranoid about running out of petrol. I was once told "you're never lost if you have enough petrol", and I live by that.). That works out to be around 11 L/100km give or take. It's an automatic though (which also means it's pretty gutless) and I'm doing mainly stop-go city driving.

You fill up every 220kms? You should be able to go twice that far before you even need to think about putting fuel in.
