What mics do you own

What do you use them as, Triggers?
room mics, guitar mics, whatever, you guys never heard of PZM's? The guy who ruined metallica mics the back of cabs with them.
NO phase issues, no comb filtering. If you have to mic drums in a little room they will save your ass
Not piezos BTW

man, as soon as i get a room to track drums in again, a couple of PZM's are the 1st thing i'm getting my hands on....i really want to try sticking them on the floors/walls/ceiling albini style

those will be followed soon after by an SM7 and some cascade fatheads...

I seriously need to buy myself a pair of sdc's and a nice Ldc. here's what i've got right now.

3X shure Sm57
1X shure SM58
1X Shure Beta52a
1X Shure Pg58
I've a few different sm58 type mics that I've picked up cheap over time that I use live but I don't really use for recording much.

I've a T-bone Rb100 ribbon mic that i'm really liking on alot of stuff right now. I've also got a small little mic from a megaphone or a shop p.a thats really crap but in a kinda of usable way- for telephone voice or strange distorted guitar etc..

I bought the components to make up my own little piezo mic's but haven't actually put any together yet.

I'm probably going to get a set of those naiant condensor mics to hold me over until the end of summer when hopefully I can get a set of Rode Nt-5's. I figure as a different mic they'll still find some odd use as room/spot mics when I upgrade.

Haven't a clue what to get large diaphragm condensor wise- I've tried a few in college but in my price range i'm pretty clueless, I might try buy 2-3 from thomann and then send back my least favourites but i'd need the money for all of them up front first.

click "microphones", and it's the ACM-3 model...these are available only through group guys that have been set up on a handful of recording forums

to be honest i haven't used it yet even though i've had it since december...a lot of the ribbon mics from the last buy showed up with severely stretched ribbons, and mine was basically unusable. the factory is sending out new ribbons with the group guy that's going on right now, but it'll still be a month or 2 before they get here...and at that time, i'll also be replacing the x-former with something better, so we'll see how it sounds in the end.

it sucks it came broken like that, but i guess that's what happens when you roll the dice on something ridiculous cheap like that

Hey Guys,

I own an SM57 but would like to try out other mics for guitar... what would you suggest I try? I was told to check out the AT2020 and I5... anything else?
If possible is order of "best to good".

Thanks.

i acquired a lot of those cheap mxl mics as free gifts with other purchases; the 603s works great for a drum overhead tho and the 990 isn't bad on vocals for something on the cheap

Shure SM57
Shure SM58
Behringer ULTRAVOICE XM8500 (which sounds suprisingly awesome in front of a cab)
Behringer C-1 (which is shite).

I mix live bands and my micset currently consists of:

5 x Shure SM57
3 x Sennheiser e604
1 x Sennheiser e901 :worship:
2 x Röde NT5
1 x Beyerdynamic Opus 69
1 x Beyerdynamic Opus 89

If someone hasn't ever tested Sennheiser e901 or Shure beta 91 on kick, I really suggest you do. Or actually... Don't. You never wanna go back to beta52/D6/D112 after you try it! Atleast I haven't.
