i think the studio rta desks may be the most popular piece of gear i've ever seen here besides an sm57
What monitors is everybody using?

The MSP5's are my babies, I've been using them for about 4yrs (they are the MSP5a's not the new Studio line) now so I know them better than anything. The HS50's were free from Yamaha and before I heard them I wouldn't have gone out to buy them with my hard earned cash. I'm really happy I've got them though, as James' said they aren't exactly like NS10's but they manage to give a close enough representation. My mixes have transfered much better since getting them in.
If I was to have just one pair I still pick the MSP5's as I'm much more comfortable tracking with them but for those on a budget the HS50's are no brainer.

Those one's are the new versions, they are a complete redesign. I've not A/B'd them but in the listening tests I've done with the new versions I've been really impressed.
Do you have the SM8s? I was thinking about trying a set of those but the digital conversion turns me off to them a little.
The Barefoots rocked but I want to try the K&H O300Ds and maybe the 8050s or SM8s. Too many options!
Naw, I just have the Solo 6's. There's only so much I can spend.
I'm sure you could talk to Fletcher or something and get him to send you sets of everything you need to get a good comparison for what you like and want.

I have AKG's K55 phones as well, nothing special about them, just to observe any minute imperfections in recorded performances.
But still, the biggest problem is still my room and monitor placement. One of them is right in the corner and other is against the wall.
I've been thinking about rearranging my room, so they would be placed along the longer wall and some 40-50cm in front of it on the stands.

Yep, pretty much what I'm doing, just one set at a time. Some of these monitors are heavy though and shipping gets expensive. The Barefoots are ~80 lbs. each and shipping for the demo alone was almost $500.

Try trying to demo a Toft ATB!!!
Has anyone ever tried the M-audio Ex66's? they run about $1200 a pair. I've read only good reviews about them, and i'm looking into having them be my next purchase.

I'm thinking of getting the new M-Audio Studiophile BX5As, I think they would be better, they look nicer at least.
At NAMM my boss asked his 2 of his reps about them, one said they were so much better than the current bx series that they should have named them something else, and the other said they were the same with different packaging.
