Okay, it's actually for Valentine's Day too, but who's counting...
I almost got tix to see The Producers this week, but I was late, and the only seats were like in the second balcony at the far right in row T. MAJOR SUCKAGE. So i opted for this:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
St. Louis Symphony Orchestra
Varieties of Love
Fri, February 14 at 8pm - Order Now!
Sat, February 15 at 8pm - Order Now!
Emmanuel Villaume, conductor
Andrew von Oeyen, piano
Wagner Prelude and Liebestod from Tristan and Isolde
Berlioz Selections from Romeo and Juliet
Rachmaninoff Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini
Ravel Suite No. 2 from Daphnis et Chloè
For Valentines Day, works about famous lovers. And one of those pieces - the Tristan Prelude and Liebestod - might be the most searing love music ever written. But the Rachmaninoff Rhapsody is a wonderful wild card. The big tune toward the end sounds like a perfect love theme, but the rest of the piece is a long flirtation, full of games and sly wit.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
and a nice, dece dinner.
Well, I got her some shit that was on her list too- like cds, books, warm pjs, etc. But this is the main schmaltzy romantic-o gift.
I should've made this a poll.
