vocally, THE FINAL CHAPTER is the BEST Hypocrisy album

the voice really "SOUNDS" on it, it is louder than others album, you can hear it even better, and it has the BEST growlings (A coming race, Inquire within, Lies..._ and the best screams (Dominion, Shamateur), it has clear vocals and everything

so, if you talk about Peters voice, I want something close to the final chapter, more evil I say

Seriously, though I think Peter has had enough exposure to black metal (he produces a ton of it) that he will not suddenly change after all these years of Death Metal.

We arise from the ashes below
To battle and crush the holy war
We'll spread our seeds to change history
A genocide delivered on your doorstep
They will perish in the everlasting flame
And we demand a new great victory

A new era has begun, the world is falling
And darkness triumphs, the emperor has made his call
And now the time has come for us to dread his warning
The terror will reign, death upon us all

Hell is here, no escape
Hell is here, Mother Nature's raped

Fueled by the hate we plow across the burning nation
With blood dripping from our hands only to keep the essentials from our past
The great army of the black horde is marching on
Through the remains of the slaughtered men

If you never heard of Warpath and read those lyrics and guessed the genre, what would you say? BLACK METAL.

If you ask me, those highligh-parts do not have enough Black Metal in them to be called as that. But.. whatever. I see what you mean.
I´m not that big of a Black Metal-fan anymore (I like only classics like Darkthrone-Pantzerfaust, Immortal-Pure Holocaust, Satyricon-Medieval Times etc. I haven´t gotten deeper in, I started stepping out and got stuck with Hypocrisy ) but the genre has a huge part in my life in form of my man who´s one of the most highly appreciated people in the Finnish BM-scene.

The scene, in my opinion, sometimes goes a little bit over the top in things, but still the people in it are mostly the most intelligent people there is. Of course there are a lot of dickheads as well. But the people who live and breathe BM are very often the ones to be appreciated for their commitment. They know what they stand for and what they are doing.

When talking about Hypo turning to BM... doooon´t think so. Come on, there can be some influences and some words to that direction but fully BM? No.
And hasn´t Tägtgren said like gzillion times already that The Abyss was the first and last try in that field?

yeh, something about 'getting all the black metal out of their system' with that side project band, in an interview.

You are correct. Hypocrisy won't change into BM, but that direction is an available route. Don't be surprised if their next album is a tinge more blackish though.

I refuse to even vote on that. The very idea that Hypocrisy should try to emulate an earlier album's sound is repugnant.

It should sound like a NEW Hypocrisy album, of course. :loco:

Direction like that is more than welcome. As long as they also remember to use the mid-tempo in which they are so good at! :worship:

You should also know that Horgh has already infulenced the songwriting in Hypocrisy since Peter said that Warpath was written because of Horgh.
Ever compared the riffs of Warpath and Tyrants (from Sons of Northern Darkness) :Spin: ?
Well, I'll vote for "Virus" because that's (out of the Albums I know) the one I like most. Warpath-like songs with more Black Metal influences (Naglfar-/Dissection-Style) wouldn't be bad. And not to forget some melodic mid-tempo hammers (Roswell 47, Eraser, Let The Knife Do The Talking) and the one obligate melancholic "ballad" (Living To Die, Paled Empty Sphere) .
