It's not just the list. I ran into no fewer than 7 people yesterday who DESPERATELY needed their he'mets, just going to Fred Meyer. 3 of them were actually trying to cross the road unassisted, and clearly thought the entire adventure was hysterical. Too bad they didn't encounter Mr. Shoppingcartchallenged from the automotive aisle right outside the storage section -- it would have been natural selection at it's finest. I swear, even the checker was drooling a little. It was unreal.

I blame a combination of technology and global warming. My theory is that we microwave our brains with our cell phones and blue tooth devices, then slowly simmer them in their own protective mucous while staring at a square, glowing box.
