What would you LIKE to see become the next metal genre?

I know this is a tricky question, as there are so many crossovers now, so much has been done, but I was wondering what kind of metal you think you've not heard yet and would like to. There must be something new out there.
I'd like to hear a hardcore band with lots of halftone harmonies and dance beats. I'd also like to hear a metal band using quarter tones, or using new tunings that are not the same as each other, as in, tuning guitar and bass a quarter step apart, something like that. Might sound like ass, might sound amazing :)

A friend and I play a power trio based around 1930's 12 tone music. In terms of music theory, it's not metal. However, it will be interpreted as so. We don't play shows and currently don't have any recordings. This is because we're actually my friend's project for his senior recital. We will be recording something between now and whenever he moves out of state for grad school. The reason for not recording is that we had trouble finding a drummer who had the ability to play the material tastefully. Anyways, it's pretty unique and may fit what you're bringing up.

No. Bethlehem is not a DSBM band. They exclusively play dark metal. And those bands you mentioned are not dark metal at all.

Well since Bethlehem reminds me of Silencer (and I'm talking more than just the vocals on their later works) I always considered them to be DSBM. And on the second part of your post, MA would disagree.

Yeah, I would say that Bethlehem epitomizes dark metal pretty well. Obviously there's a huge black metal influence on their music and maybe in a depressive suicidal spirit, but you can't ignore the doom elements that they include, which in my opinion is what makes them dark metal.

Their Silencer like vocals are only present in their second album.
If you think that MA is right in genre naming for every band, then you're wrong.

well, Its just the polar opposite of black metal so I guess it would have very clean vocals,no blast beat drumming, very slow riffing, etc.

It would also have to be happy, as opposed to grim and somber. And it would have to have a lot of major scales as opposed to minor. I'm sorry but not sounding too good. Besides, white metal is what I call christian black metal, some call it unblack metal, which is pretty much black metal with christian content.

I'd like to see more folky non-Western influences that doesn't come off as trying to be exotic, gimmicky or cheese-laden. I think the Mongolia/Tuva/Nepal/Tibet area would be a goldmine with the throat-singing and heavy monastic influence. Combined with atmospheric black metal instrumentation it could be totally rad.

Also, a shit-ton of '80s NWOBHM/heavy metal revival with East Asian folk influences, e.g. Tang Dynasty.

And someone needs to make a Kraftwerk covers album.

Honestly, I'd like to see less fucking pagan/folk/viking metal bands, whether they play that oompaoompa polka inspied Korpiklaani style, or the Amon Amarth/Unleashed boring death metal style, or some half-ass, uninspired black metal approach to it.

It's all played out. It's all boring as fuck.

No, i mean produce soungs that can even come close to achieving such a combination of genres. They're all on opposite ends of the spectrum, but in my mind I can imagine it being done. Not only having a band but an entire orchetra. An array of instruments, brass and percussions of all kinds, in unison to the fluidity of the song. These songs would need to be 10 minutes minimum with 20-30 minutes or more possible.
