Alcest - le secret (this is just amazing, the riffs cut right through you sounding melancholic and joyful at the sametime. Nattens Madrigal immediately comes to mind)

Mortifera: weird slow black metal from France with atmospheric yet morbid riffage and some of the most bloodfreezing owl shrieks you'll ever hear.

Angmar: killer black metal from France. Not outstandingly original but very solid in all aspects. Think old-Gorgoroth paired with some mystical melodies à la Lunar Aurora. Let's keep it straight: a A-level record.

when I couldn't stop playing their albums for over a month

just spied in Zero Tolerance mag in the reader polls it came #5 in the cover art catagory

it was about #42 in the actual albums but primordial got #9 in the best band thing, maybe irish metal is finally being seen on a decent level
