There was this one band that called themselves Lion (not to be confused with White Lion), which may be considered a one-hit wonder, but you just can't deny the awesomeness of this song:
Maybe not strictly 80's but that's when they were at their peak, mine is Dire Straits. I would love to have seen them play back in the day. Their songs remind me of summer cos I always used to bust out their albums when lazing around the garden with my sister.
Ok so was the teacher in the videos Dee Snider without the wig? I never figured this one out. They looked identical.
I Wanna Rock may be not only the greatest song ever, but the best video ever. In 5th grade while the class was completely quiet, I would scream out in that high pitch singing voice, "I Wanna Rock!" Some of my fellow class mates would of course scream "Rock!"
No wonder I got kicked out of class almost everyday that year.
Oingo was cool @ Irvine Meadows every year, there was this funny thing I remember, A Guy dressed up like the pope riding in a makeshift popemobile... Great show, good times.
Danny is the Man!
NEVER heard the rumor he was the teacher.I heard a rumor Dee wore a wig which was obviously ridiculous.but c'mon! That dude from the TS videos appeared in interview segments with Dee,they're in the videos together simultaneously, and TS recently released a DVD called "The video years" with that dude interviewed in it with the band.
Band I miss most from the 80's would be The Grateful Dead and Jerry Garcia Band. Yeah, they covered more decades than the 80's, but that was prime Dead time for me. Sooooo many good memories. Also, a local sacramento band called 58 Fury. They rocked!
Don't know if they still play or not (they don't play here!), but I'd have to say the Pretenders. Didn't care for them in the 80"s but just love Crissie Hynde's voice and songs nowadays. Doesn't hurt that she was a looker, either!
