When did mainstream Rock start sucking?

razoredge - I must say it's been interesting reading your posts in this thread. You've obviously been around awhile from the sound of things.
Feathers & Flames - You must be young. Why did music have to go downhill in the 90's or 00's??? Your poll was too narrow & you can't judge things like that from a certain year. You should have done 61-65; 66-70; 71-75; ect.
This is what did it for me. You're talking about how now every one is selling out when you just got done saying 2006 was the year that made you think that mainstream music really sucks as there was good stuff coming out before then... There has always been a ton of bad popular music out there.
I like a lot of popular 70's & 80's music. There was some great 80's Pop. A lot of the popular Rock bands in the early 90's like Alice in Chains were pretty good & I like a bit of the popular music from that period. We also didn't have boy bands then & I don't remember Rap & shitty Pop music being as big on the radio then. Things go in phases though. I don't know much about the 60's or 70's but I know that there was a ton of popular crap music out there at that time.
I would pick the mid to late 90's myself, but that's only because I don't know enough about earlier popular music. That was when boy bands & rap got big. I'm not voting however because I don't know an exact year shit just got to be too much.
Give me 80's pop anyday over that shit. Michael Jackson & Madonna pwn 50 Cent & Fall Out Boy.

I didn't think of that at the time. And plus in my opinion it really didn't start sucking til the 90's-21'st century. I mean there have always been one hit wonders, but I like the older one hit wonders better.

2) I post in chat, and the band forums, why do you even care?
3) I only made maybe 2 threads like this. This one was made two months ago. And no I don't complain about modern Rock 24/7 (and I only complain aobut mainstream). I may not like it but I actually pay more attention to the music I like. And by the way, GFAD was right, stop advertising those bands in every fucking post you make.
