I guess people just don't like the idea of their tax money going towards nurturing people who have often commited abhorrent crimes and inflicted great suffering. Plus, what's to say it works.

Yeah, because killing stops the problem of killing. Prison should be used for REHABILITATION, not punishment. Punishment, and the desire for others to be punished, is a sign of weakness, the way I see it. If somebody is not punished as you see fit, then your whole paradigm is shattered. The functional and logical thing to do is to rehabilitate people to the point where they can safely re-enter society.

Not all people can be rehabilitated. Get rid of them all, they spoiled their chance at life.

Edit: Oh, and "killing a killer" is in my book social self defense. Chances are high that someone who have been convicted of murder, rape, whatever commit these acts again. Its an undeniable fact.

It had nothing to do with being the King of the Black Metal scene.

Varg went to give Euronymous a contract that Varg had signed for him.

Varg was told that Euronymous wanted to kill him, and he even had a plan to do so. After Varg gave him the contract, he asked Euronymous what was up with this. As Varg took a step forward, Euronymous kicked Varg, and then that is what pretty much started a struggle. Varg was basically fearing for his own life, and he probably acted in fear, thinking that Euronymous was going to kill him.
