When your metal "heroes" let you down.

I don´t really care if a band put´s their heart in it, I am not that emotional with a metal band. Either I like it or not. Metal bands or members of my favorite bands are not my heroes, they can´t "let me down", regardless what they do. Kiss, obviously my favorite band, is a good expample. They just do it for the money, fine. I also work for the money. I love what Kiss does anyway.

But I am not saying that I don´t understand if some of you guys feel " being let down" by a metal band if you are that much into it. I get these kind of feelings, when I hear members of my favorite footbal club saying they only do it for the money and don´t care about the club, don´t put their heart into it etc. But not bands.

They only let me down when they put out shit music! You can pretty much tell if thier heart is in it or not just by listening IMO.

I don't expect any musician in metal to live a la Manowar that would be too unreal for me and frankly I don't care if let's say John Tardy reveres Madonna as long as he doesn't come with music like hers!

Long time ago I read a top ten albums list by James Murphy (way before I had his solo albums or was he a part of Testament) and I do recall all being classic/progressive guitar albums. And Murphy can go and play in a Rush or ELP tribute then he can kick ass big time on a Death, Cancer, Obituary or Testament album so still a hero for me :worship:

Vivian Campbell talking BAD about his Dio years.....
Too bad, because that WAS his best playing, IMO.....

That was sadder than Kiske :erk: I guess is an endemic sin in music business, when a musician left a band in bad terms or after some years they tend to bad mouth the old job.

I remember all the crap Ozzy said about Black Sabbath in the 80's and then in "Reunion" he talks about how much he wait to play again with them...speaking of a fallen hero

The thing about "bad-mouthing" is it needs to be taken in context with the time and attitude. There is always bad blood in a break-up. It takes time and perspective to make a person see the facts clearly.

I try to cut people some slack in that instance. Put myself in their place.

Yeah, These people live with each other 24/7 when on the road and "creative differences" become a problem as people change as the years go on. Throw drugs and alcohol into the mix I'm suprised there isn't more bad-mouthing going on.
After several years of not being around each other I'm sure they start to remember the good times rather the bad and VOILA' reunion tour.
