Where did the name "Opeth" come from?

I'm sure this has been asked and answered a hundred times here but-
Where did the name "Opeth" come from? What does it mean? Is there an official meaning or just one fans have made up?

Well.. i can answer one question... according to the band it means "city of the moon"... not sure if that is from them or a known fact though.

From the book "Sunbird" by Wilbur Smith, there is a city named "Opet" meaning "City Of The Moon". The band just added the H for the fun of it.

I thought that they were called "Opet" until they went into a studio and someone there mispronounced it "Opeth" and they preferred it. Might be wrong though...
