Which Anathema do you prefer?

Do you prefer the more guitar oriented stuff or the more stripped down stuff.

I personally love the more guitar oriented stuff like Judgement that really shows off Dannys BRILLIANT playing. I love the stripped down stuff like Alternative 4 and A Natural Disaster too...but I just wish Danny would rip more solos.

Eternity had some AWESOME leads as well.....

"Turn Loose the Swans", "Draconian Times" and "Master of Puppets" are easily Anathema's best records. They should go back to the style of these three.

I firmly believe that "Hail To The Thief", "Abbey Road" and "Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas To Heaven" are their best albums and they should stick to that style.

Both styles produce great songs, and I think the guitars are there when they should be in the new songs. Just to fit the mood and all. So, for me both are great.

I like all their styles, even the early death metal days
I miss the brilliant Eternity leads and controlled feedback though...
And Judgement is my least favourite, bleh

the Alternative 4 to Judgement era is where it's at, mostly, then comes The Silent Enigma which might be rated higher but for the fact that I prefer the excellent singing voice of Vinny's which is heard best on the albums I first mentioned. Then the others closely follow. I just love the atmosphere that my 3 favourite albums possess, if that could be recaptured in anathema's current, at least more, 'mainstream' format, that would be awesome.

personally i think eternity is their strongest. although the production might be a bit off at times(just my opinion) the melodies are amazing. Serenades is great also, although im not a big fan of that type of vocals, i think they lack emotion. I didnt like fine day to exit but natural disaster is great.great stuff indeed

I love AND and AFDTE, but both of them have a song on it what I just can't listen to now, so at this moment I cannot consider neither of them as my favs...
normally my favourites are A Natural Disaster and The Silent Enigma

I like Pitiless, but I can agree to some point with the other Cerulean. Wings of God is worst though. I like a lot of songs off Judgement though

I'll still call Eternity my fav, just out of habit probably, have listened to them all so much that it for some odd reason makes it impossible to have an opinion on it.
