Ok, I've got around $440. I really want to get the XPT707FX and that is around double what I have saved up or I could get the RG7321. I have enough to get the RG, but are the Xiphos worth the extra $400. keep in mind I want something that will last a long time. Can anyone tell me what I should get?

Look on the used market. Your money will go a lot farther if you buy used.

Neither of those will be good guitars. Ibanez's lower end are unfortunately pretty hit or miss lately, from what I have heard.

To best help you, it'd be great if you could answer a few questions... What is your price range? Do you want 6 strings or 7? What kind of a sound do you like ( warm/cutting, tight/huge, bright/dark )? What bands/albums/songs have a similar sound? Do you have any color or shape preferences?

The difference between a $400 and $800 guitar will be huge. I've played the cheap Ibanez 7-strings and they blow tbh. If you really want a 7-string and you're willing to go up to $800 (and if you want a quality instrument you pretty much have to) you should look into Carvin and Schecter 7 strings as well.

So, you are saying Ibanez 7-strings are not as good as Schecter 7-strings?

And I am only getting a 7 string, because that is what I'm interested at this moment.

Thanks guys.

Well, I think you can get an Ibanez S-Series 7-string for something like $700. Buy it, then save up more money & down the road swap the pick ups out for DiMarzio's.

Let me say this: I am no 7-string experts, but I know a good guitar when I play it. I played that one & I thought it felt great in my hands. It's a Wizard II Neck & the neck was a high point. The string spacing was also great. Hopefully you can find one at a local music store if you have some & try it out.

If that doesn't work search e-bay for a used Schecter Jeff Loomis guitar :) :) :) I want one of these!!!

I'm actually about to buy the Jeff Loomis signature guitar. It looks bad ass and it plays great.

Put in some blackouts, sounds fucking ferocious.
Although to be fair that's a pretty nasty rig he's got going overall.

Now I just need to save up 500 more bucks! WOOOOOOOOooooooOOOooOooOo!!!!

Thanks for the comments guys. You all have been a great help.
