Now that Lasse got his KK Marshall, I thought its was the right time to ask your opinion about those JCMs. I've never played a Jcm800 before,so I don't know about their different mods or different versions. Which one you would suggest me to get for recording purposes?

Thnx Lasse! I listened to your clips, they were pretty good, although I would like them within a mix. I didn't know the Kerry King one was, let's say,the say the same amp. Does it has master volume too? How much did it cost and how much do you you feel is a good price for a used one (either the original or the KK)? Did you try a TS infront of you think it doesn't really need one?

yep, it's got a master, they really are the SAME amp. the kk just has got that boost...but you don't have to engage that, and w(o it being engaged it's not in the circuit.

I bought mine new, don't really know how much they're used. I'd say about as much as the "regular" 2203, too

I have a 6505+,do you think that it would be a nice "other half" for the Peavey or should I get a Krank or a Mesa? Your opinion really matters cause you own all of them and the tones you can dial are massive,so I want your thoughts

I wouldn't say they're exactly the same since the 2203kk is using KT88's / 6505 power amp tubes and the regular 2203 is using EL34's. That plays quite a roll in the overall sound I would say.

of course, the powertubes are different.
the difference in sound isn't a major one though, I'd say just by changing the bias you'd get bigger differences.

for me the perfect partner for the 5150 is definitely the Recto.....fucking perfect match

I'd personally get a 2204 (50-watter). While either amp cranked is damned loud, the 2204 seems to be able to hit that "sweet spot" at a somewhat lower volume. Of course, things like tubes and bias make a huge difference as well.

Had Good experiences with 2203s but I I've got a 2205 which I love, two channels is alwYs nice

Clean and distorted I think, though apparently there's some bleed between channels or some nonsense - honestly, none of them are versatile enough to be a live amp for me, so I'd only get it for studio use, and thus would want the one to give me the purist tones at reasonable volumes, AKA 2204!

Owned a 2203 once, quite liked it. But back then I was more akin to doing the metalzone thing through it, so .......................

My mate has a 2210 and it kicks. Of all the reviews I have read on the subject, only 2 models come up frequently, the 2203 and the 2210.

Apparently the 2210 has a bit more gain from what I can remember. I still have to see him about doing some comparisons, (his father past away a month or 2 ago), so I will try and catch up with him and post some clips.

its quite capable of rhythm and lead, the normal channel breaks up quite easily when you wind up the wick , although i use it clean and dirty.
no bleed between channels on mine

It has two channels... how much more versatile do ya want??? roadking?
:guh:

I believe the extra gain of the 2210 is from diode clipping.
Some people hate it, I myself cannot give 2 fucks about purist bullshit and I think it sounds fine with diode clipping.

about that powertube-difference.
most USA 2203 came with 6550 tubes, which is essentially a KT88. so actually the KT88 in the kk get you closer to the classic thrash tones of american bands than the el34 equipped european version

Thanks man! That should be a good read!

Allready had a quick read about in on the internet and, after removing the backplate, my old Soundcity doesn't have the minipot/pots for adjusting the bias it seems...

they won't we visible just after removing the backplate. They're on the Board, you'll have to take the chassis out of the headshell.
CAREFUL!!!!!
