Which Katatonia album is best?

Nothing to do with Anathema and there is a forum for Katatonia at http://www.ultimatemetal.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=26

However, their latest is a damn good album and probably the easiest and catchiest to get into. Get "Last Fair Deal Gone Down", you can't go wrong with it.

'Brave Murder Day' is definitely the best one from Katatonia. I think it's the saddest and most depressive pieace of music they ever produced and IMO the easiest one to get into...
But I would recommend, you download a couple of songs from each album and decide by yourself which one to buy.

Has a hell of a lot to do with this forum, since most of the guys here has the same taste in music, and that can direct him to a more suiteble album. If he goes to the katatonia forum he'll probably get every single album they've made as an answer.

If you like Anathema, you like Katatonia!!!!
My first one was Discouraged Ones(buy it!!), some listenings to get in but with the time can be one of your best cd`s , then if you like clean vocals buy the post-D.Ones but the first ones are also great!!!

:) by the way Katatonia wants to tour with Anathema!!!

My favourite is Discouraged Ones...but it is not as easy to get into like LFDGD or Tonight's Decision. You can buy any Katatonia album, you won't ever regret it.

by the way Katatonia wants to tour with Anathema!!!
where did you get to know that? if it's true then you just made my day :) :) :) :) :)
a tour like that would be so unbelievable great!!!!

I'd say that my favorite one would be also Discouraged Ones although I haven't heard their early works... I haven't formed an opinion about them though, i mean they are a good band but somehow I can't say that i love them as much as most of the other people who heard them... Maybe I need to devote more time to them.

Well, lets think about that....hmm...without being absolute, i'd say that my favorite Katatonia album is "Discouraged Ones", and second favorite would be "Last fair deal gone down"!
Anathema and Katatonia together??? I'd go to the end of the world just to see that happening!!!

It's amazing how many people have listed Discouraged Ones as their favourite. I personally find that one to be my least favourite!

I find Last Fair Deal Gone Down to be their masterwork with Brave Murder Day and Tonight's Decision tying for second place.

Same here! The vocals annoy me.....

Yep. That and the drumming, which for the most part is quite good, however the last song is really fairly terrible.

Anyway, listen to the drumming on Last Fair.. and tell me Discouraged Ones is better;)

Discouraged Ones is my favourite, even though it s rather uneven, it simply drips depression. The vocals there remind me of Robert Smith. Last Fair Deal doesnt really appeal to me to such extent, it lacks climate, but it s decent.

Bah, yeah the drumming's not wonderful, it shows more on that album for some reason ;) The drumming on LFDGD is brilliant!

goneh: I don't understand how Jonas' vocals can remeind you of Robert Smith.... there's a marked difference IMO but hey :)

Well, I insist that they do. Not all the time, of course, but at certain moments. Especially in some of the choruses, when Jonas wails. And when the second layer comes in. Take -Nerve-, for instance. Actually, I think Jonas himself admitted once that he was inspired by Smith.
