Who is your Album of 2007 ?

Chimaira -Resurrection
As I lay Dying - An Ocean Between Us
Devin Townsend - Ziltoid the Omniscient
Megadeth - United Abomanations

Albums that I hoped to be in the list but dissapointed me:
Pain - Psalms of Extenction
Arch Enemy - Rise of the Tyrant (I listened to all their previous album uncountable times, this one probally 10-11 times..but I just can't get the hang of it..)
Dream Theater - Systematic Chaos (They should stop with trying to be metal/evil posers and just continue further on what they left on octavarium)

Forgot 2..
Jason Upton - Beatiful People & Between earth and sky..
Not metal, I know..but it's just beautiful

so far my list is

Dream Theater - "Systematic Chaos" I don't care what the haters say, this is a great album.

Fear My Thoughts - "Vulcanus" Good melodic death metal. Can't get enough of it.

In Vain - "The Latter Rain" An excellent mix of death/black/folky mega-mix of metal.

Winds - "Prominence and Demise" Its Winds, what more can you say.

Cephalic Carnage - "Xenosapien" Because I've been a fan for years and this one PWNz

Devin Townsend - "Ziltoid the Omniscient" I'm a Devin fanboy and the songs are just right.

The Absence - "Riders of the Plague" This album really surprised me. Good American melodic death metal.

Joshua Redman - "Back East" gotta love the jazz.

I'm sure there will be more to come throughout the year.

im going with:

machinehead- the blackening
devildriver- tlkw
soilwork- sworn
chimaira- resurrection

these are my faves where i like just about everything(tunes, production, etc.). i seem to listen to these a lot. there are many more however.

1)BLOOD RED THRONE: COME DEATH this album fucking slays!!!!!! erland caspersen is an amazing bass player, check out his vids on you tube!!!!!!
2)Carnal Forge: testify for my victims
3)Divine Heresy
4)Six Feet under: commandment (chris barnes is the man and they are the best death metal band in the world!!!!!)
5)ziltoid the omniscient

byzantine would have made the list if they had of released oblivion beckons when they were supposed to!!!!!!

Prong - Power of the Damager
KMFDM-Tohuvabohu <<<< I know I cant get out of the early 90's Industrial
DT- Systematic Chaos
Devin- Ziltoid

and many more

The Project Hate - In Hora Mortis Nostrae. This album blows me away. It has lots of ear candy and the mix/master that dan swano did really makes this a magically album in a brutal kind of way.

i was just so upset by systematic chaos. there is really one good song and i don't even listen to that (repentance) and the ministry of lost souls has a great melody and a guitar lead melody which is hair raising.

good job to porcupine tree and btbam for so many votes. they are my 2 fav this year and i guess we all have good taste here. colors is not just a good album for 2007 it is a landmark album IMO for the genre and beyond.

I'm going to list my favorite two this year...

1)The Absence - Riders of the Plague.
2) Carnal Forge - Testify for my Victims

Had The Haunted's dead eye come out this year, It would have made the list. ;-)

you have a right to your opinion... even if it is wrong. great album... odd mix, but quite good musically.

yea i suppose. DT is my fav band so i'm so used to their old prog style. as someone said before the "cheesy 80's style" that they had on IAW and AWAKE.

songs like innocence faded and lifting shadows off a dream just are so killer IMO. but i am not one of those DT fans that only likes old stuff, because i love six degrees and i loved train of thought. octavarium was good as well but systematic chaos lacked the artistic creativity and organic juice that they have had on other albums. they are trying to be somethign they are not. with train of thought the aimed to be heavy and they did in tastefully in their own style. SC was them kind of stepping out of their shoes and heading in a totally new "feel" its hard to put into words, i just feel like its truly cheesy and tasteless. it's very forced and there is nothing that really stands out aside form several moments. noce again im not saying they were only good in the early 90's because they have great albums except this one. don't forget their masterpiece scenes from a memory was in 1999 and i did say i totally love train of thought.
