When we've got PRIMAL FEAR - BLACK SUN!

:headbang: :headbang: :headbang:

This album totally f'king rocks! Easily the best Priest album since Painkiller - and I dare say it stands strongly against it too.

You really should!

I bought it because someone here said Ralf Scheepers sounded just like Halford - and they were right! But the entire band sounds so much like Priest, it's uncanny - and awesome, because we basically have Painkiller pt II after an 11 year wait! :headbang:

There was a website with joke metal stuff on it, making fun of Ralf, it was really funny....... how he shaved his head and all that... he mentioned his band as "Priestal Fear"... and said he was gay too... heheh...

Gotta find that site...

Spawny likes Painkiller. Probably just as much as he likes Pink. Unfortunately I can only buy one of them, so Primal Fear this Friday here I come :headbang:

Back to the question, hehehe - "I do!"

Personally i dig primal fear, but black sun - sorry , don't think so.

The first two albums were "to me anyway" very very similar - but considering Painkiller was over 10 years ago, no comparison.

The road priest have taken since Painkiller has fueld heaps of debate from people i have talked to, I think they blow now without Halford and are now only a cover band doing tunes they used to write well - Ripper does it well, but isn't carving anything new that compares to Halfords worst day.

Priest ended in 1991.

Um, Two and the new halford cd don't count... Just because....:p

Well Black Sun is my first taste of Primal Fear - and I like it!
I know it's not Priest, but it is still the best 'Priest' I've heard since Painkiller. :)

Stu, you don't like Black Sun? Why's that?
I gather the earlier albums are better?

Well, the reason i don't like Black sun inparticular is the lack of progression the band has made - I am of the school of thought that bands should deliver what fans want to hear to an extent but black sun "to me" is a total rehash of the first two cd's just with weaker songs -

The first two cd's have subtle differences that saw the band mature a little on Jaws of death, Personally I was hoping for a little more than just songs written around a riff -

I must admit though, I am a huge Ralphe scheepers fan -

Again, these are my personal thoughts. The guys have an opportunity to raise the flag high for power metal, they have a high profile ETC and i expected a little more from them as a fan.

But i feel that way about alot of what I am hearing from the pool of power metal - I am still deeply rooted as a power metal fan.
