Aside from the Brazilian scene, I don't hear a whole lot of influence from Sarcofago. To say that they have more influence than Celtic Frost is just laughably igorant. Fucking christ, just look at Darkthrone. Half of the tracks on Panzerfaust may well be lost CelticFrost songs.

post gets a 10/10

Sarcofago was in no way influenced by CF. Their main influence was hardcore punk and speed metal bands like Sodom and Destruction.
Sarcofago also influenced bands like Blasphemy and Von, and in turn all the bands to follow in the war black metal sub-genre.

As for Mayhem's Sarcofago influence, I've read in an interview with Euronymous that it was Dead who turned him onto Sarcofago's INRI. So it definitely wasn't influential on albums predating DMDS.

and necuratul prefers close the eyes and ignore it.

was Celtic frost a big influence? of course!

but not to black metal only... to underground in that moment...

my question is very simple:

Why isn't Sarcófago in the poll?

i guess that who made this poll has commited a big mistake... big mistake

Nobody's fucking saying that Sarcofago wasn't influential, but they were NOT (NOT) as influential as the bands posted in the poll. If you think otherwise, you're quite simply flat out wrong. And Dead did not introduce Euronymous to Sarcofago, that's utter bullshit. Euronymous was penpals with Antichrist long before Dead was even in the band, so nice try anyway. Also, if you don't hear the Hellhammer/Celtic Frost influence in Sarcofago, then you're probably in denial and more eager to support your claim that Sarcofago is more influential than Celtic Frost than you are in getting the facts straight.

childrengrinder, how does Celtic Frost's influence extending beyong the realms of Black Metal in any w ay affect the influence that they had on Black Metal? Why are you even bringing it up? And sure, maybe Sarcofago does deserve a spot on the poll, but they certainly don't deserve to be called the most influential band on the list.

dude, i'm tired, but i'll show my point again:

which band looks like mayhem, burzum and darkthrone, sarcófago or celtic frost?

please, pay attention to the vocal, to the riffs, to the drumm, and answer me which band looks like more black metal...

but you said a half truth:

Sarcofago deserves a spot on the poll, but not maybe, certainly.

So Mayhem, Burzum, and Darkthrone are the only Black Metal bands? And to be honest, they all sound more like Celtic Frost than Sarcofago, especially Darkthrone. Mayhem was just as influenced (probably more) by Celtic Frost, and I doubt if Varg ever heard Sarcofago. If you weren't from Brazil I doubt you would hold this opinion. :loco:

1º)Mayhem, Burzum and Darkthrone aren't the only black metal bands, but they are the first, and certainly they have influences from Sarcófago

2º)If you are talking about Transylvanian hunger, i agree with you, but you can't say the same about A Blaze In The Northen Sky, cuz this record looks like more Sarcófago than Celtic Frost.

3º)Wagner from sarcófago sent many letters to varg and receive too, so, i believe varg received a sarcófago's demo tape at that period.

4º)the fact of i'm in brazil doesn't change the fact of Sarcófago is a big influence to black metal bands... this is my opinion and i believe i'm right... I'm not the defender of the brazilian metal, my favorite bands aren't brazilians, you almost called me 'Blind'

5º)and probably Astrum has reason, when he say 'Sarcófago aren't going to be there'

but everyone knows that it's a big mistake, and i wont continue this discussion... maybe you're right, maybe not:u-huh:

Venom was the first Black Metal band, but they were also part of the NWOBHM scene. NWOBHM is not a genre. I don't accept revisionist history, so when people claim that Venom was not Black Metal, I just laugh at them. Sorry, but you're wrong.

How is Venom black metal? Is there any other black metal band which sounds like them?

In my opinion they're just speed metal with a Satanic theme. I think if you use today's commonly-accepted notion of black metal, Venom doesn't really qualify. If you're not using that, then... the term doesn't seem very descriptive.

 You're a silly guy.

either i didn't believe when i saw it... it's very funny

but i disagree Venom is the first black metal band

where will it go???

   :goggly:

I don't give a fuck about "today's commonly-accepted notion of black metal." Venom was Black Metal in 1982. Their music didn't change. Now in 2007 some guy on a message board is telling me that what Venom did in 1982 wasn't Black Metal because it doesn't sound exactly like Burzum. I'm sorry, but your logic is flawed, and what is called revisionist history. Venom, Sodom, Bulldozer, Mercyful Fate, Celtic Frost/Hellhammer, Mercyful Fate, Sarcofago, Root, Tormentor, Vulcano, and Bathory were and are all Black Metal.

This is the kind of logic that leads to genres like "troll metal", "viking metal", and "pirate metal" coming into existence. I'm glad you're such an advocate against 'revisionist history' and all (not that genre labels have a damn thing to do with history), but I prefer to use terms that actually serve some purpose in describing the music.

Then why "Proud Brazilian Metal" in your signature? .. with bands listed/shown? .. :erk:
